jm turbo coopers dmf delete clutch/flywheel kit

I've been looking everywhere trying to see if anyone has installed one of the jm turbo coopers clutch kits. Is it worth it? I've also been looking at the clutchmasters fx300 kit. I would get the stage 3 kit if I went with jmtc. Any input is super helpful.
Thanks in advance

Most folks that go to a competion clutch in a mini a sorry....life tends to as short as 10,000-20000 miles...can grab like heck, but nothing is free.
if you are making crazy hp, and the stock clutch can't hold, go for it, but stocks seem ok till around 250 hp....

I'm not laying down any crazy hp. The only mod is an Alta Drop In Foam Filter...lol. The biggest issue for me is I have 85,000 on the clutch and it's just starting to slip. I am the second owner so not sure how the first owner was with it, from what I learned the first owner put mostly freeway miles. I've always driven stick so I feel I'm not a bad driver It's annoying how short lived the clutch in the cooper s is.

For jmtc, they are based here in the USA and use some german engineering. The clutch looks good but I'm a freak on asking around to who has used a product and what the reviews are.

I like the sounds of the clutchmasters fx300 but read mixed stuff on the clutchmasters clutch systems. Mostly the negative comments are about the fx100 and fx200. I don't want to go with OS Gliken, pretty much read all bad stuff for street driving on them.

As for the competition system, I've looked at it and it seems good but a ~20,000 mile life won't cut it.

I can live with a slightly stiffer pedal feel, used to own a 1990 5.0 mustang...lol

also to add, the dual-mass flywheel crap is junk, the dumbest design I've ever have seen. But why is it that other companies who use the same design don't have issues like the cooper????

Heat....cluch is a bit undersized imo...
Ati super dampers on a crank pulley must be hot pressed to install....but have a warning of about 300 or so max....and the flywheel uses a similar desgin and gell...so i think a slip or two....and the gel starts to go bad from getting hot....

I think the only proven quality aftermarket clutch/flywheel kit for the R56 is the OS Giken so far. Guys that have used the Spec or Clutch Masters haven't had such good luck. Too bad the OS Giken is so expensive, but it's a great piece of kit. If you're not going to be going nuts with your car why not just get a OEM clutch and flywheel? If your DMF is worn out you can find them for a cheaper than the dealer offers from Pelican Parts.

Talk to someone like Chad at Detroit Tuned of Way at Way Motor Works before you buy anything. Changing the clutch on a FWD car is a long process and you want to do it right the first time.

True, the bellhousing doesnt breathe really, just extreme poor design. I understand in making the driving smooth as possible but don't compromise reliability. My mustangs clutch was smooth and it used a single mass flywheel. I'm thinking of going with the fx300. Seems like a good clutch and I do wanna upgrade in the near future.

But seriously though, don't be the guinea pig on this one. Sounds like you came from the domestic muscle crowd and the MINI market is very niche compared to the domestic crowd. The R56 platform's aftermarket is still immature compared to the R53. Give Chad or Way a call

The family was all drag racers...lol. The biggest thing I see is that great products are made for the R56 but the longevity of them isn't that great. I love my mini cooper but sometimes do wish I still had the stang. Cheap and easy to work on..lol

Kinda looking at the OS Gliken GT, better than the "base" one and they say has less chatter. May go with it but will look around.

Yea that's what stinks. They make the touring version and then the race version. Both are the same price. OS Giken doesn't have a middle ground. So for choices you have stock or full blown race clutch

Right!!!! Lol. The gt version does look nice. Starting to lean towards it more now. Just the damn price. Seems a lot of people, not just mini owners, like OS Gliken clutches. I do wanna track it one day.

I purchased one of the JM Turbo aluminum solid flywheels and installed in my car along with a rebuilt long block and clutch set at 160k miles. Quite happy with all parts and the flywheel has been great. Looking forward to not having any issue with the dualmass setup Not that I had an issue with my original parts, they all make 160k.

Price was right and service was great. Seems like a small shop but very responsive.
Flywheel worked great with stock clutch/pp assembly.
Cheers!
John

Just curious, how many miles do you have on this set up? What mods do you have and hows the feel compared to the stock DMF? thanks!!!
