Drivetrain Has anyone done an increase in bore or stroke to the MCS?
>>I'm about to be a bit sacreligous...

>>While we are talking about big things such as this, has anyone seriously considered finding a 6 cylinder engine that would fit in the MINI?
Someone has put two motorcycle engines where the back seat and boot WERE in one. It seems this would allow you to keep your stock engine up front for normal driveing and when your wanted to GO you would have four wheel drive with three engines. Would probably take the Monster Garage to work this out along with $$$$$$$$$ and some more $$$$$$$.

Since I recently had a Ford 351W engine bored and stroked to 427ci I was wondering the same thing. It was mentioned before that there is very little room in the MCS engine to Bore and Stroke. Crank interference with the bottom of the engine being the biggest problem so stroking it isn't possible. Very little would be gained by boring alone.
Qvick (or soemthing like that) put in a E46 engine (new M3) but they also made it rear wheel drive and had to do everything else under the sun. Do what they did and not even the Enzo will be able to hang with you

I was told that our engines are not BMW engines but Chysler Neon types. If that is the case I wonder if we could swap an STI turbo engine into a Mini? the bellhousing pattern might even be the same!

yes i was toying with the same idea about the SRT neon turbo, since my uncle here in michigan ownes the company that does all of GM, Chrysler and Ford prototype engines we where thinking of custom building parts to make an engine swap possible and a little less far feched!!!!!!

The SRT-4 has a 2.4 liter, the Mini has the 1.6 liter which is the same engine the Neon has that is marketed for Europe.

And European market PT Cruiser as well. The American Neon and PT Cruisers both use a 2.4L 4cyl engine.

how do they say (ALL IT TAKES IS MONEY) all is possible with the right amount of greenbacks !!!!!!!!
but hey its fun to try and spending the least amount as possible!!!! theirs the challenge, i was gonna get charged 13,000 dollers to fit a northstar engine in the back of my fiero gt!!!

Randy Webb from Webbmotorsports has already considered and looked into a 1.8 and 2.0 liter engine for the MINI and found it not to be worth it for the gains and the cost. He does offer other upgrades that will make smaller gains like a double intercooler. A turbo kit for the MCS would also be something allowing for alot more HP but much less cost.
The problem with more HP than 220 (which we can usually easily get through simple means) is that you have diminished returns due to loss of traction without also adding a Quaife LSD, better suspension like coil overs and camber plates, and better tires. The drivability of the MINI set up in stock version with only the power cranked up to 300 would be out of balance. You can stay with stock parts and go to 200 HP as with the JCW kit and that seems to work well.
