This is a press release written by Manic. It is made to mimic MINI branding.

How much does MINI UK have to do with the MINI Challenge series?

I have the feeling that MINI has nothing to do with it. And this definitely won't get MINI more lenient regarding tunes on their road cars.

In the past DNA tuned the challenge cars.

Very correct. MINI Challenge series has very little to do with MINI road cars.MINI sponsors events and pay contingency sponsorships but that is about it. The teams are still paying for the vehicles and the operating cost.

The Challenge car does not even run a standard MINI ECU.

Here's a nice build list for the Challenge cars. Not a bad deal at ~58K USD. Lots of cool parts that can never be fitted to a road car.

On a side note..
F series OBD flashing is still in the works with eta of 2nd quarter of 2016. As of now they still need to be boot flashed.

Is that a turbo provided by Manic? What're the braided lines used as?

I have done a lot of them and some even with Methanol and big turbos kits. They have great grip with all the extra power. I just ordered my 2016 no sunroom, manual AWD JCW CM.

For those who haven't checked the dealer map, there is now a Manic Motorsport dealer in Vancouver, BC (Yes, finally a dealer in the PNW area!)!
I will only be doing tunes for now. More to come later. Shoot me a message if you are interested!

In case you were wondering, I am GEMSTER on this forum.

I'd be down for a Manic tune and am in San Diego. PM me if we can get this going for a weekend here. I was thinking to drive to Los Angeles to have this done, but preferably not past Santa Barbara.

Hi there, I just got Manic stage 2 on my R60S, however in Map A the boost reading only peaked 19Psi (1.3bar) from around 4000-5000rpm.(max boost)

But from 2500rpm to 3500rpm it was 16Psi (1.1bar) and also 16psi (1.1bar) after 5000rpm to redline...

From the dyno run, I tried switching between Map A and Stock map, I only gained 5whp, I found the highest gains were in map A.

What is wrong with my car any ideas? Is the car supposed to hold 19psi (1.3Bar) all throughout the rev range?

What other mods do you have? Stage 2 maps need mods to see more HP...

Where's the boost???

I'm running a Manic stage 2+ with all the necessary hardware. Just recently got obdLX and Torques Pro app. Sad to see I'm only showing 18 psi max boost. I don't have the switch to change maps but Way dialed in the B map.
Most people I'm seeing here are getting 24 psi. Wonder what's wrong? Orginial turbo with 133k...maybe that why

If your on the stock turbo, you will peak around 18psi on Stage 2. Any higher than that it will be way out of the efficiency range. We are around 21-23psi on stage 3 because of upgraded turbos.
But when I was stage 2 I peaked 18psi.

OK, that's good news. Thanks. I saw today 18.5. I was thinking I'd see a very consistent max boost reached when WOT over 5k rpms.

This obdLX and Torque is pretty impressive. Now I want the sps switch to try C map and switch between.

for $200 the SPS switch is well worth it imo.

Stage 2+ is supposed to yield aprox: Map A - 1.3 bar , Map B - 1.4 bar,
Map C - 1.5 bar. This is from what I have read. I have a stage 2+ and peak more than 18psi in Map B, more like 20 psi (stock turbo).

1.3 bar = 18.8549 psi
1.4 bar = 20.3053 psi
1.5 bar = 21.7557 psi

I would get the sps switch.

Target boost pressures vary based on year/engine on stage 1 and 2 tunes.
Not everyone has same maps unless it was flashed with the exact same software. IE we have 3 GP2's with exact same software, they make exact same dyno numbers (within 1-2 hp and trq) have the exact same boost targets etc.

If you have a + or customized tune is will vary from car to car. Contact your installing dealer to find out what your exact targets are. Once you know that you can compare, if you cannot reach targets contact your dealer for help. Tuning will not fix mechanical issues. A leaking Diverter valve or worn out wastegate cannot be fixed via software.

Along with what everyone else has said, boost also depends on air temp, elevation, etc. The boost targets are that, targets. The engine might not need to go all the way up to the target psi to meet the load requirement.
