Don't worry I don't plan on ever touching 22psi.

Did they tell Nick you were a JCW? I've only seen the 22psi target boost map on JCW or hybrid turbos maps. Most our stage 2 cars on MCS turbos have boost targets of 1.4 even with meth or race gas.

EDIT: Here's a compressor map that I got from Frankenturbos website. So at 22psi, your pressure ratio is 2.5, now I wonder what your flow rate is? Assuming a VE of 90% then I'm getting 26 lb/min at 6000 rpm. That puts you pretty far out there on the map.

For clarification: That graph is represented in absolute pressure. So 1.0 = ambient. Add to that value 1.5 of pressure and you get 2.5bar, or the 22psi being talked about.

But remember these compressor maps are created under ideal circumstances. The testing equipment would have a 100% flow efficiency, while a turbocharged motor does not.

Lastly, and most importantly, when people cite a given boost level it's almost always referring to a mid-rev range spike. Not to the pressures recorded at anywhere near red line. The stock K03 is good for perhaps 14psi at 6500. 22psi is for the lower end of the scale only.

So...I have an '08 S nearing 100K and runs great. I have a JCW dealer installed tuning kit and a Helix intercooler and the usual piping cleanup done, stock S turbo. What tune level would be spec'd and what might the expectation be of performance improvements? Can anyone quesstimate an "is it worth it quotient"? Thanks.
If you get a catless down pipe you will be in Stage 2 territory.
Stage 2 is basically down pipe and intercooler with a tune. With Stage 2 your looking at between 230-250hp crank. Without the down pipe you are looking at a Stage 1 tune for manic. Manic is for 2006-2014 Mini Coopers (N14/N18). You will not regret the tune if you decide to get it. Whole different car. Much worth the money.

Not that I am aware it. I actually filled out all the paperwork showing my mods, myself.

I went and double checked the files we used and looks like there was a stage 2 MCS with 1.5 boost target pressure on meth. Enjoy!! Most our cars daily drive on the 1.4 map and it is a lot of fun. We will be dyno testing all the cars this winter so will have solid whp numbers on most combos.

as for boost loss at higher rpm... On the JCW cars we tested there is no spike , Nick gets rid of the overboost spike most cars have or experience when using other tuning options. the Dyno sheet I posted in the sticky shows N18 JCW pulling 22psi and stays very close to ~21 psi all the way to redline.

This is what I use, bought them at the Mitsubishi dealer. So far so good with 23psi and 10.5 timing.

At what engine speed are you recording 19.5psi and ignition timing like that?

I missed that in the signature. What airflows do you see at that point in the rev range?

Did you have problems getting yours flashed? I have heard that a small percentage of cars for whatever reason do have issues and the case has to be opened.
