i would say adding a header is not the thing to do right now since you have the stock exhuast, after having the pulley, i would say the next most benefeical thing would be meth injection.

once the catback has been replaced i would say a header, but most gains through the header are from tuning and catless, the cat will have the most restriction in the exhaust, followed by the catback, then the header

the header with a stock valve head prolly wouldnt be the most beneficial either

so either a cam or meth injection would give you the most bang for you buck

i think you have it mixed up sort of

the stock header flows pretty well, it may be restricted some by the pre cat...

the stock exhaust is a bit restrictive but still decent....

you will only see like 5hp from the header

another 5hp from the exhaust

and a whole lot more noise

but shoot its a not a daily driver anymore might as well go big

A good header is pricey. I just replaced mine because the OEM header snapped into two pieces. Milltek header with the Milltek exhaust can get a little loud (absolutely NO drone), but when you are WOT, does it matter? Civilized driving makes it almost non-existent.

The car pulls pretty good now through the gears. But if we are talking bang for the buck, that is a subjective term based on how big your wallet is.

Drop a cam in it (nitrostick or Newman both can be added without a tune) and then maybe have a tune and you will be happy. The modding bug is an addiction so you really will never be satisfied.

RMW Dominator Cam, 450cc injectors, OBX header with a Random Technology Cat then get an RMW Tune. Better power, sound and fuel economy. Hard to beat the results. If you want to go further then the next step is Meth. It gives more power with a tune and lowers intake air temp. No need to go GP intercooler if you go meth.

Having just installed a header, the sound is intoxicating for me! You know exactly what the engine is doing at all times (sound).

But I foresee updating the ECU soon to recognize everything that is on the car now...

Have your OEM cat. fabricated to fit your Ebay or whatever aftermarket header you go with and enjoy no CEL codes and better sound and performance. I would suggest an aftermarket cat-back though for much more enhanced sound and perf.

I would also go with a vibratechnics upper motor mount and at least a powerflex lower bushing and maybe even the powerflex transmission bushing. I use all three but if you use at least an upper and lower motor mount you will greatly reduce the stress on the header flex joint. This will help whatever you go with last longer.
