Drivetrain Any luck with O2 Foulers?
Any luck with O2 Foulers?
I'm thinking of getting a catless down pipe for my 13' Cooper S.
I have MINI Connected in my car so whenever theres a problem, It will
pop up every time on the screen which will annoy the hell out of me.
Any luck with O2 Foulers anybody?

They don't work. They only delay the inevitable... a CEL.
Before I had Evolve tune my car and delete all downpipe related codes, I had one installed and all it does is delay the code from appearing by only a few minutes. Unless you're getting your 2013 MINI tuned I wouldn't even bother getting a downpipe. Your just going to have a louder car that reminds you it's p1ssed via MINI connected. You really need a tune to unlock the gains of a downpipe.

Just wish the 2011+ allowed OBDII tune.
Annoying that I have to send my ECU or chip the car with RaceChip. I'm not trying to void my 6 year warrant. So I guess I have to hold off.
Yea. I know. Lolol
just i paid the extended 6 year maintenance plan..

That would void the warranty for sure right?
Of course! How else can you have more fun
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuso...s_Warranty_Act
The minute the dealer notices that the ECU has been cracked open his warranty is out the door. We've seen many people get in fights with MINI over this but I'm not so sure if anyone one went yelling about the Magnuson Act. Maybe they won? I don't know. Proceed with your own discretion.

There's a thread here where a poster said that the anti fouler worked for him when the weather was warm, but not when it was cold. He suggested wrapping the downpipe and the anti fouler to keep it hot, so it would work in the cold weather too.
Heck, it only costs a few bucks for an anti fouler, it wouldn't hurt to try.

Have you seen this?
I was thinking about fitting one with the downpipe before going with the Evolve tune.
Looks like they work on euro5 cars.
They have a ceramic cat matrix inside and the design of the head, with the small holes, allow a good amount of gas to pass through:

That said, they are not legal... (internet police).. since you are planning on bypassing federally mandated emissions equipment.
Looks like a waste of money!
If you're getting the Evolve tune that defeats emissions related codes, why spend the money on this? Just put the downstream O2 sensor in the downpipe and be on your way.

In my case I didn't fit it!
I think it's a good idea for people who don't want or can't have a ECU Tune.
I'm thinking newer cars where you have to open the ECU to tune and void the warranty.
If I'm not mistaken the Countryman JCW and the 184 hp Cooper S are like that because of the new engine...so if you fit a cheater you can decat or move the cat under the car without a CEL.

The position of the secondary O2 sensor bung is the same as stock on my exhaust, actually the temperature is higher than with the cats as the flow hits the bung directly...
I talked with the guys selling these, they used them on the M5 F10 with decat downpipes, on SLS amg, recent VW Polo...still not tested on the Mini 184/218hp.
