Can't find a resonator to put on custom exhaust!
Hey all,
I have had my custom exhaust, magnaflow 2.5" with 2nd cat and resonator delete for about a week now. It is too loud, at least for people who I'll be having in the car, whether it be family members, girlfriend, and friends. I am looking to add a resonator on and I found one awhile ago from magnaflow. I can't seem to find it anymore, but it was a 2.5" resonator. If anyone has the link or item number it'll really help. Thank you very much!

Porthos, would this be okay then since obviously I'm running the 2.5"...

there's also one with a 18 inch body, but I don't think I need it that long compared to the 12"(link above).

I just put a 4x18 vibrant resonator in my stratmosphere exhaust this week. I could have fit the 5" body, but I wasn't confident when I was measuring. The strat has 2.75" tube (wtf?), so I put a 3" unit in place and built up the pipe to fit.
It did get reduce the drone to an acceptable level at cruise (2200-3000), but did quiet the car down a little when pushing it. It still sounds really good, and has a nice sound at idle.
I got mine at Summit racing (around $85 delivered), and the part quality was pretty good. I shoulda took a picture, but they actually have fake TIG welding on the unit. You can see where they MIG welded the unit, then sanded and polished it. After polishing they put a bunch of dots on it with a welder (no filler was used) to make it look different.
If you are going to clamp it in place, then go with the 12" unit. If you don't like it, you can cut another 6" of tubing off and put the 18" resonator in place. I'm sure that there are enough guys with this issue that you won't have trouble selling it if you don't like it. Like you said, you don't want to make it too quiet.
Have fun,
Mike
edit: yesterday my wife drove the car, I didn't tell her that I changed the exhaust. she didn't mention anything when she got out, but when I asked her if it was louder, she said 'yeah, I thought so'. When I asked if it was too loud she said 'no'. Win.

I just want to hear it loud when I get on it! My friend though said it sounds plain mean haha.

My muffler shop says they have a resonator they can give me and install for $100. Or should I buy the one you recommended and total will be $110. Will it make a difference?
But curious why the 3"? Bigger turbo plans?

I think I'm gonna go with the vibrant one regardless because its a bottle type and not a huge round rocket ship lol.
Just curious Porthos, what kind of turbo you got on there?
