Drivetrain WMW Turbo Heat Shield
WMW Turbo Heat Shield
Wanted to hear people's thoughts on removing the top part of the OEM heat shield and installing the MINI Cooper S Hood Heat Shield and WMW Turbo Heat Shield at the same time, but not re-installing the OEM heat shield?

What OEM heat shield? I never had one. Check out the NM Titanium Heat Shield also sold by Way. From what I understand, the wrap has some advantages but with the NM shield, I can drive for hours in southern heat and place my hand on the hood scoop.
The OEM heat shield is the one that comes on all turbo's- it covers the turbo, the top of the manifold, the downpipe. That's really hard to miss. It has the hand figure w/ an X thru it.
ALL Turbos, huh? I guess that I have no idea... The one that was going to save my hood scoop from warping? Wasn't there... I ordered my 2011 MINI from the factory and it had no heat shield from the same factory.
Something is obviously the matter if you have to strike an attitude. Just looking for some assistance in the issue at hand. If you can't come back with helpful information then maybe you should not post anything. Sure its a little pic that I have compressed, did you happen to click on it to see it decompressed......!?
If I have to get particular w/ you the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. You definitely have that. It covers the turbo housing and the downpipe.
As for the turbo heat shield that you referenced, I do not want to get that because it take away from the overall look of the engine covering everything from the right of the turbo to the left of the O2 Sensor.
I would like information on WMW Turbo Heat Wrap. If anyone has any information regarding this product and how it works with the turbo (if it has long/short term negative/positive affect) along with the hood scoop heat shield that I currently have installed; all info would be greatly appreciated.

Speaking of heat shields, not wanting to hijack the thread....... But is the sole purpose if the shield to protect the hood scoop? Or is it beneficial to the turbo as well?
It seems like it would trap heat in the turbo, which would in turn result in hotter air temps....which seems counter productive, considering we pass the air through an Intercooler to cool it down.......

My son's 2007 had no shield and a "chrome" hood scoop that was warped and bubbled. I got him a new scoop and the MINI supplied metal shield like what Way sells and the hood scoop was all warped and bubbled again in a 6 months. I don't believe you can buy the insulator blanket any more that fastens to the bonnet. My 2008 had the blanket and I added the tin shield piece but I was not experiencing any problems. Since I got the son's scoop at the dealer, there was a 2-year warranty and they replaced it not questions asked.

Any questions just ask away!
I've also done this to my diesel which has 230,000 miles and the wrap is still doing its job.
There's a myth about damage to the turbo because of a wrap.....230,000 miles wrapped with the original turbo.....yea, think that myth is out the window lol.
