2nd cat and resonator delete

Ok like the title says Iplan on doing this mod tonight with the help of some buddies. I can't find a muffler shop thst will take out the cat as they *** say they will get fined for removing any cats. Yada yada yada. Anyways. Does anyone know what size pipe ill need to slide into place or what size the stock exhaust is at that area? Thanks in advance

Leave the cat in and save all the problems down the road.

2.25 on my 09 mcs. Also I was under the impression than it is the cat on the downpipe that was a no no to remove. The cat after the o2 sensors is for noise.

I think the stock exhaust is 2.25". I know the JCW is slightly larger than the S and since you're saying you have a 2nd cat you should have an S.

Have you tried small exhaust places who are individually owned? Try to find somewhere that takes cash only, they'll usually do some slightly illegal work for you. I was able to find a great place in Burbank, CA of all places. If I could find one here, there's gotta be someone in your area that'll do it too.

I would recomend removing the 2nd cat and leaving the resonator. Check out my thread HERE for a video of my setup. Without a high-flow primary cat, your sound will be a little different but removing that 2nd cat definitely made my noise deeper and louder.

This. This. This.

From the flexpipe to the resonator and cat should be 2.5" and it moves down to 2.25" after the resonator and cat. So you'd need a 2.5" pipe and a 2.5" to 2.25" coupler if you remove both resonator and cat.

Small exhaust place will do it.

Removing the resonator really gives it a 'dirty' sound. Cold starts sound like ***, and it just sounds like a sick lawnmower. I did the cat/resonator delete and I ended up buying an aftermarket exhaust and then getting another resonator because I hated the sound so much. Tons of drone and it's always loud, whether you're doing 15 or 90mph.

Just remember ....
exhaust sound is a matter of personal preference. . .
what sounds good to me, may not work someone else . . .
acceptable level of droan... same story
also may depend on what motor you are running...

Truth. Those terms are all relative to the listener/owner so we'll never know.

I had both my 2nd Cat and Resonator removed and I really like it. Listen for yourself. It cost me $40 and I kept the resonator in case I want to swap it back on.

I didn't delete my 2nd cat yet, but I will when I put on my magnaflow muffler and then the setup will sound nice from all the videos I've heard.
