Home Brew CAI

thought you squirrels might be interested in this.

for the longest time iv had a hot intake with just a filter slapped onto an intake tube. could never justify spending 200 or whatever it is now for a real CAI. so i had a few drinks and decided to make this...

I've heard of sweat equity but blood equity makes it even more special. Well done!

... which would make some copycat showing up with one, dilute the cool/unique factor IMO.

I've heard of a canned tune, but a canned intake? I like it!

who cares, still pretty awesome for a heat shield (and it didn't cost $60)
are you going to line it with some heat resistant tape or paint?

i just wish i could figure a way to seal it to the cowl vent to make it 100% cold air

piece of sheet metal formed to the original opening, then rivet it to your CAI heat shield and get some high temperature silicone to seal the seam.

Let's chalk this up to synchronicity and let it go at that. Does NOT detract from the cool factor one iota.

Think he meant a tube going from the ''keg'', directly to the cowl behind, so it's sealed from the engine bay! Otherwise it would kinda cut the whole look to have just a ''firewall'' like the original setup!

i think if i did all that i would not only have to cut the bottom half of the air box which the keg does sit inside a little bit and also cut a bigger hole in the plastic that seals the cowl vent but once thats all said and done and riveted i dont think id be able to take it back out without damaging it to service the filter or do other work
