Updated with Renn and NM info. Great progress being made in the last month or so. Can't imagine what is keeping the flash tunes from appearing now.

Anyone know anything about ECU Tuning Group?

By reprogramming the ECU, not only were we able to increase power, we were also able to remove the speed limiter, hesitation/flat spots, and raise the RPM all while improving fuel economy by 10-15%. Like every other vehicle we have reprogrammed, no physical alterations were made ie. intake, exhaust, headers, intercooler etc. Substantial power can be obtained by upgrading the stock intercooler and replacing the cats with genuine hi flow 200 cell race cats.

Gains Achieved:

2007 – 2010: 40 hp & 25lbs tq
2011+: 29.9hp & 8.1 lbs tq

Please inquire about any Mini.
$595 for their tune.

Wonder why there is such a disparity between the 2010 and 11 models, considering they are the same engines.....

That's what I realized too, I'd rather have a flash tune than keep having to send my ECU off if problems occur or buying an extra ECU. But luckily for me, I won't be getting one til probably late winter/spring of next year due to other mods on the way.

Interesting thing in the FAQ of ECU's site.

"Our software is completely undetectable. Most of our customers are actually factory supported dealerships."

How exactly they pull that off is a mystery to me since other companies seem to not be able to do so.

Either way. Updated with their specs on the main post

PAW Motorsports flashed a countryman and came to my shop to get dyno'd. It out down just over 200whp on our heartbreaker of a mustang dyno. I dont remember offhand what the torque output was. The graph wasnt that great but it was strong

Flashed, as in, with a cable and laptop, open source? If so, this is awesome news to say the least!

The ecu had to be removed from the car for the flashing procedure. Pretty common amongst the euro cars.

A friend of mine was at Wicked Big Meet (big subaru meet in CT) today and Cobb was there. He asked them about the N18 Accessport for me. They told him it wasn't even in the works because there isn't enough interest in it yet. Guess we're stuck with yanking the ECU for a while more

What idiots they are at COBB! I refused to use that Crapcessport on my WRX, but it seemed like the only real, viable option for the N18, and now they say that there's no interest in it? Yeah, because all of us want to take our ECU's out of our cars, and ship them off to get a tune? Fools. Somebody will crack it before long, and then we'll be able to open source our tunes.

Anybody know how they get the tunes into our ECU's when we send it off? And better yet, why can't we use the same technique to do it at our houses, with a cable and a laptop?

I posted my feelings about this in a different thread.....

But in short, it's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

I saw this coming, there really aren't enough N18's on the street yet for tuners to see a profit. Waaay more N14's out there, from 2007 to 2010.

In time we will get flash tunes. The question is, can we wait around till then? Or do we risk warranty issues with these bench (physical tampering) tunes?

When I spoke to NM Eng about why they aren't advertising the tune option on their site, they told me they ran into a problem with N18 ECU's on cars built after 2/12...apparently MINI made another change to the ECU. The are working on getting that resolved and should be able to tune '12 R60's very shortly.

I understand what they're saying though. Most people with an N18 are still under warrenty and wont want to mod their car. As long as Mini sticks with the N18 for a while they should come out with one

The Renntech numbers don't say they are wheels horsepower which is probably why they are higher

Everybody is forgetting about Evolve. One of the biggest tuning companies in Europe. I would give them a call about the N18 tune. They have the resources to explore this just like Cobb or Alta can.

Evolve has not yet replied on the forums, I don't think they cracked it yet.
Call them up in the UK. They don't spend a lot of time on the U.S. forums.

Could not find any information about an Evolve tune online. If I can get more info I will add them to the mix.

They're too busy to be posting "latest news" feeds on NAM and other sites. If you give them a call they'll give you the full scoop on their progress. They'll crack it I know it

Contacted them through phone, email, and their US site. Yet to receive a call regarding the N18 tunes. Sent a follow up email just now. Hopefully will hear back soon.
