Sorry to make yet another thread but here we go...

At our dealership in AZ they sell B and B exhaust system for the Cooper. B and B is also known as Billy Boat. They make some really high performance exhausts, all stainless steel of course. It costs $795, really expensive but it can be financed with the car. The other option is the RSpeed. The RSpeed looks great, and the people who work there are almost reason enought to buy, not to mention a great deal at $458. I heard the b and b on a Cooper S and the sound was perfect, when I listened to a clip of the RSpeed it sounded a little to much like a mod instead of a performance car. Of course it is not fair to compare the sound of an S to a cooper but no one has a sound clip of the Billy Boat. If anyone can help us decide that would be super swell. THanks

Look into a Borla or Helix13. They both sound good, but allof them will sound better with a cold air intake, that opened up. You get the sound of the intake along with the exhaust.

Don't run into it. You can always go back to the dealer and have them install the B&B if that's what you want. At that price, it better not be more later on.

Reading thru the posts, the Borla seems to offer the least intrusive noise. The Helix and Magnaflow have been labeled as loud and droning but power is definitely there. The RSpeed has been talked about much but what little that is around implies it's got a nice deep thoaty sound with decent power. Supersprint is popular among those with quality concerns.

I say follow your conscience, go with RSpeed. Put the extra bucks into the the RSpeed filter ($89) and save the rest for wheels and tires or suspension upgrades.

I think you're right about the Billy Boat MCS exhaust - sound that's in a class by itself. So it would surprise me if the MC exhaust isn't also very good but I haven't heard it - didn't even know they made one yet.

On the other hand, many of us think the RSpeed sounds great - I like mine. I don't mean to put RSpeed's sound clip down, or their A/V equipment, but that clip really doesn't do it justice. The only way you'll know whether you like either of them is by hearing them in person. Are you sure your dealer doesn't have a Billy Boat exhaust on one of their demo MINIs?

P.S. - I had a Helix....after about 4 months I switched to an RSpeed.

RSpeed!! Mine was installed on JoeGreen SG/B '03 Cooper four months ago and the sound is great, just the throat I was looking for .. noticeable but not overwhelming. I agree you have to hear in person to compare. Plus I've bought several items from RSpeed and I like doing business with them.

Oh too many choices.

One thing that has always made me laugh is when someone is in their rice rocket with their loudass exhaust sounding like they are the fast and furious and then my old Volvo passes them.
Does anyone have a sound clip of their exhaust? Has anyone ever heard the b and b on a Cooper?

I have a MC and like Minimonkeygrrl have been thinking abut the R-speed system. I am considering it and the Borla systems. Those of you that have the R-speed system on the car, do any of you plan to go to the Dragon this spring. I would like to get a chance to hear the r-speed system. Could you post a pic of you car so I know the one I should be listening to. (With the number of people coming I'd like to meet up and talk some but will not count on it.)

Also, the Borla for the MC has a muffler about half way down and then a second muffler in much the same setup as the stock system. From the pics on the R-speed web site there is just a streight pipe to the Muffler under the boot. Am I correct?
