Custom Stebro exhuast on R53 Mini JCW Competition Edition

(warning read updates below)

Hi guys, really exited today as my exhaust system is getting upgraded by Stebro in Ottawa. The JCW, good for what it is, was slightly too quite for me so i feet the urge to do something about the sound of my mini. (i like it really loud)

Removing the resonator from JCW. big mistake! trust me. a little more sound yes but not much however what you do end up hearing is more pops and bangs and not deep nicely sounding ones but loud bang sound.

So here is the update. i got a 2.5 inch with resonator and 2 big (5x10x11) open chambered mufflers with decent looking exhaust tips. the system sounded great on the outside however when inside the car very quite! I felt so conflicted about this I mean i don't care if people on the road can hear it. I want to hear it!! otherwise what's the point!

Dan the owner is unresponsive and he lies a lot about his employees being sick etc. to get out of work. I even offered him more money and that's really the only way i can get him to fix it at this point. did i mention he is supper sneaky and evil and rude?

Okay, this was not a fun transaction, I finally gave up. basically i went in asking for a bit more sound he built me an exhaust that performed well but had no sound unless you open the window. to avoid building new mufflers and admitting that was the issue he tried every possible other cheap alternative to work around dealing with the issue even though finally i broke down and offered him money actually i offered him more money from the start and still would not give me what i asked for.

trust me i'm a supper respectful guy and deal with people in a very gentle way and with these people all you get is screwed up the a$$.

read the review, they stole a guys factory muffler from a Lambo and do really horrible things to people's cars.

my friend brought his Porsche in recently for a cat back exhaust. 3 days they had it and would not let him see it. later he found out that they pulled his manafold off to copy it so they can make more and sell on ebay! crooks, trust me don't deal with this Stebro! learn from my and others mistakes.

I had the Borla Sport (Race) cat-back on my 2003 R53. I loved the sound of that exhaust. It sounds great inside and outside of the car. I did get a little drone inside the car at highway criusing speed when a load was put on the engine such as going up a hill in 6th gear but nothing that a downshift to 5th would not solve.

Just got the Borla installed this morning (Race) can you say :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay at first i was relived that it didn't sound like a plane landing. on idle it's actually quite tame. however at first right after the install it sounded a little too basey i was not too sure yet! it was the nice loud i want but a bit of drone and base. so i opened it up and went for a long drive to cook it a little. by the time i got to work i was smiling from ear to ear. the sound changed dramatically even only after about 50km. I'm already quite happy and if the sound get's even better in the next few days i'll be even happier

oh and i love the classy subtle pops! pop pop pop!!! :D

also system came with a free borla hat ...Go Borla!
