I don't know which particular socket you are considering, but as someone who has changed their own plugs (R53) I can tell you that the ideal tool is one-piece from handle to socket; if you use a conventional spark plug socket on an extension, you may find (as I did until I jury-rigged something) that after you torque the plug and then go to withdraw the socket & extension, the socket stays on the plug, and does not come out with the extension.
I like true spark plug sockets because they hold the spark plug. A couple of tricks to getting the socket out after installing the new plugs. 1) Just barely insert the plug 2) When pulling the socket out, apply sideways pressure to the socket and pull SLOWLY, like getting your shoe out of the mud.

Just use duct tape to hold it together then take it off when you are done.
