Way has a quick tune......does not require dyno time.

I got the GIAC 17% + 380's for $325. I'm happy with it and any future tunes are free.

Do I have to send my ECU to them to get programmed? How does it work?

You simply drive to a local GIAC dealer, and they install the canned tune in ~15 minutes. Their website lists the dealers, and the combination of mods they support for your MINI: http://www.giacusa.com/

The GIAC tune was an improvement over stock (for me), but others with 385cc injectors and a pulley who just had the JCW tune installed by the dealer seemed to get similar results for less money.

That said, you will get significantly more horsepower and a bunch of mid-range torque with a custom tune. I picked-up 16 HP just by switching from GIAC to a RMW tune, but it feels like a lot more.

just real quick i gotta say a canned tune in a car prone to detonation and problems leaning out on stock injectors, a canned tune is not the best(or cheapest) way to go. custom tunes are available through way or RMW(Jan) for as cheap as most of the other "canned" aka off the shelf options. GIAC and other off the shelf tunes dump fuel and advance timing, increasing the risk of detonation. just gotta throw it out there...

edit: you also probably do have a dyno(somewhere near by) and it'd be worth the effort to do it right. never mentioned your location...

Yeah, but Jan is super busy. Good luck getting him to do anything unless you are driving out to him.

He still does remote tunes....and can do them using timed runs if a dino is not available....data logging is a big help though...
IMO most folks should have a dino within a 2-3 hours drive...spend $100 bucks for the dino time...and the remote tune...and you will be very happy!!
