It sounds like a belt squeal, but probably due to a bad idler or tensioner pulley.

Is the belt wearing? How does it look? If you rev does it turn into a squeal? Or just get faster.

What mods are on your car? What size belt? When was it changed?
These are all important questions.

belt has about 6-7k on it, changed along with te Alta 15% pully.
when i rev it the ticking just increases/gets faster, it doesnt turn into a squeal...once the car warms up it goes away.
i dont remember seing any wear on the belt, but honestly i dont remember, i will check once i drive it again later on today and report back...

Looking at the belt more for a glazed look, but doesn't sound like that's it. Have you brought it anywhere, these things are hard to locate when not in person, could easily be the idler going out, but needs personal inspection

You should do some research on here for alta. Not saying its Alta's part but there is very intensive thread that goes over this same issue and IRC the issue ended up being the tensioner/idler pulley alignment issues with the rest of the pulleys. Do a search for Alta pulley issues (ONCE again IM not saying its Alta just that the thread Im talking about was with Alta product)

When your car is idling, does your tensioner pulley bounce up and down quite a bit? If so, you need to replace your tensioner pulley assembly. I went through the same situation. Hopefully this will help you come to a conclusion if you haven't already.

when the AC or heat is on, there is no difference. it only gets faster ticking(or whatever the sound you wanna call) once i give it some gas.

i will search up a bit on ALTA, wasnt aware of that

kb30, does your car have an alta unit installed?

and as far as tensioner pulley bouncing, i don't recall it...but i will doublecheck.

went out to NAPA and got the recommended belt from here for 15%, put it on, and noise is gone.
weird that it only lasted so many miles...
