Magnaflow to Borla Street?

I'm looking for opinions regarding the two. I have the Magnaflow currently and I've been running it ever since I bought the car. I love the sound. It's so deep and full bodied, not at all bad/rice sounding. I especially like the sound just at idle. Its sound has drawn a few compliments from random people.

The thing is, I feel it is a bit obnoxious when driven through the neighborhood at near-WOT (Some street speeds are 45-50 mph in my area). The sound also does get tiresome when taking it out for long drives. I drive from Norcal to Socal occasionally. I love the exhaust tone, I just wish it was a bit more quiet.

Normally I drive like a grandma, but I occasionally will put my foot down when I pass another car or make sure I make the yellow light or just want to drive home spiritedly for a change. People walking their dogs definitely turn their heads if I drive by while accelerating. In my area, I'm not sure that's a good thing. People on campus may think it's cool (where the speed limit is about 10 mph), but to those in my neighborhood (where it's 45-50 mph), that's another story. On another note, I was always on the fence when it came to the look of the exhaust tips, not very discreet.

I'm thinking of downgrading in terms of "loudness." But does that mean I will also loose that nice low tone of the Magnaflow? Other than volume, what are the differences between the two?

I had trouble finding people's thoughts on the Borla Street using the search. It looks like most people go with the race/aggressive version, and I would guess that the two are worlds apart. I'm sure I'll like the sound, because anything is better than the stock exhaust, IMO. I'm just wondering how different the two are in terms of how they sound. I'm afraid that it is too close to stock sounding, as some people have reported, while others say it's somewhere in between and Milltek and an Alta, being pretty far from stock.

Any Borla users find any problems with the system, rattles, etc?

Try searching You tube with Mini Borla street exhaust as your keywords. There are tons of clips with audio there.

Yeah I saw those. I don't know about everyone else, but videos on youtube sound all the same to me. I was just wondering about anyone's first hand experience with the borla, specifically the street version. Any opinions out there? (I don't mind if they are biased or not)

I've been running the Borla Street for over a year now. It is fairly quiet but has a nice sound to it. I also have obx headers. I was originally looking for a Milltek but I got a great deal on the Borla.

I'm not completely sure how loud the Magnaflow is, I've heard its one of he loudest for the MCS, but in terms of loudness the Borla Street is probably the most quiet aftermarket exhaust IMO. I had a one-ball and the sound of the Borla Street is not much louder than that, but rather a nice smooth tone.

I agree with kris kross, the Borla street is pretty tame. I went from one ball to the borla and thought it would be louder but it is pretty quiet. When accelerating, a nice tone comes through but when driven slowly, won't hear it.

I've used the Borla street for years on multiple cars. All did the same which was to "patina out" after 5000 milres or so and become as aggressive as you'd want and still keep the peace in the neighborhood. GET A driver / TRUCK OR VAN AND GO TO MODESTO !!
