im pretty sure removing any restriction from your car, regardless of tune, will help your car.

thats like saying the RMW custom tune wont do as much with a stock restricted downpipe and exhaust.

I have an intake, but I know for a fact that it's not living up to it's fullest potential without a tune.

I don't understand throwing a bunch of boltons on a modern turbo car without tuning it.

We've gotten good power gains, and big drops in intake temps with the Forge FMIC, not 40hp, but good reliable gains. And no CEL. Tuning does make Great power, but you need to do your hard parts before a tune, to prevent retuning later.

there ya go. coming straight from the master himself. hard parts first, then the tune. it would be a waste of the tune to do the tune first then the hard parts. you gotta build up the car in steps.

It would satisfy the OPs actual question, with no reference to the latter comment. Unless i missed something, no other single mod will do as much.

As I said..........hee can come very close....

That's an RMW tune on a bone stock MCS.

Peak gains were 30whp, 33wtq. Gains at 6300 were 43 ft-lbs and ~50 hp.....

What I've gleaned over a year of perusing these boards is that there are at least three top notch ECU tuners for the R55/56/57 in the United States. All three do "road shows" I believe, so you may want to call them up, chat, see who you are most comfortable with, and see when they might be in your area. Although remote tuning is now becoming reality, there simply is no substitute for having your tune done on a dyno. Here are the folks I'm familiar with:

Revolution Mini Works - Jan
ABF/Mynes - Hubie/Mike
Way Motor Works - Way

You won't go wrong using any of them. If I've missed a major tuner, I offer my apologies: let me know and I'll edit this post.

I think I'm just gonna go with a bigger pulley. Any suggestions on the brand or size?

Pulleys do not do much for a R56 Mini.

There is no bigger pulley for a turbo car. You need a performance tune to increase boost.
If you want to make more power with an R56 turbo car, get an aftermarket intercooler and have the car tuned. An exhaust will help a little but the tune is where the power is.
You can get a crank pulley but I doubt it will do much for making power.

Sell your Mini and get something else. If you want a challenge and something fun to drive stay.

I don't know. A year ago, maybe. But as we're crawling out of the recession and more people want some R55-7 performance parts, companies seem to be offering some top notch stuff.

I definitely agree on dollar to dollar high cost though. You could be going a lot faster in a lot more cars, in more generally desirable platforms (STi, Evo, Camaro, etc) for perhaps less money (compared to a well equipped Cooper), but you're right, the fun to drive, the feel of the MINI, is great.
