BSH R53 Lower Engine Mount
Looks like a really nice piece...

...and it comes at a good time because I have been looking to upgrade my lower mount with the Ireland inserts, but I would rather use this purpose built one.
My question is to this quote from BSH...
"BSH has made available two different durometers, street and race"
...is the street bushing similar in feel to the stock one with inserts, and how hard is the race one?
I have a custom bushing in my upper mount that is very stiff, just wondering which lower mount would compliment it best.
Thanks.

I was invited down to BSH to help give feedback on these parts and have thus picked out a spot in the office to sit down and work full-time..
My MINI, 2003 Cooper S.. has the stock dampener on the passenger engine carrier. I have IE bushings for that dampener, and the Tranny mount, as well as the TSW Torque dampener.. That set-up had added vibration over stock, but not to the degree of being anywhere near uncomfortable. AC on, then I get a good amount of NVH in-cabin, but again, not uncomfortable. For the Lower, I would had the IE bushings, but those things were such a PIA to squeeze in and out so many time I gave up on them and brought it up to BSH to make this part. (Im a small guy so when it comes to workin on the driveway, on my back..
)Currently I have the Race version on my street car. It's probably overkill for my application, however I can't but laugh when I stomp on the pedal and I get jolted back in my seat
I had the Street bushings in for awhile and noticed no added vibration during idle and so little added vibration over my old set up during cruising that it took me swaping back and forth 3 times to conclude it was there... But I really brought this to them because I was ran out of available options to stiffen the motor more, so now I am running the Race (which is about 5 minutes to swap out when I know Im going on a long cruising journey) and I believe it complements the rest of my Engine Dampening very well. I just swapped a M45 to Mr. Fast on there for a GTT oil catch can, only took a week or so to get it.
Shoot BSH a PM or email...if they get enough people looking for the pulleys they may consider producing them.
Sounds like a plan...would be an interesting comparison.

I think I can help here...

Just read this in another thread about the same part...

The Race version doesnt have much vibration if you are on the gas

We tested multiple durometers before deciding on what we are calling the street as we are well aware that a high performance DD is nice, but one that you are uncomfortable to take discriminating friends, clients, or significant others out in is a no go.
The Race version on the other hand is quite a bit more aggressive. It utilizes an 88a durometer bushing. Once rolling there is very little increase in NVH over stock, however at idle or when beginning to move there is enough feedback for us to feel the need to give it its race designation.
We strongly suggest the street bushing for most drivers and are also willing to sell the race bushings at the same time as the mount so you can swap back and forth for your different needs.

Its a 2 piece bushing with a billet aluminum insert, so its easy to change out.. you can get the street version and there is an option to order just the race bushings so that you can swap out rather than getting two separate mounts.

You guys are saying there are street bushings and race bushings for the BSH Mount, correct?
How do you know which ones are in it?
I see one at BSHSpeedShop.com and one on another site, but they don't specify race or street.

There is a pull down menu at the bottom of the page. There you can choose Street or Race Bushings as well as an option of Extra Bushings; Street or Race. Give a call into the shop if you need, or while you are ordering and I can help you more

The 'Buy Now' on this page just puts the street one in your cart:

And this one doesn't even specify:

Waiting on a few more performance parts then a day at the dyno. As for now, the butt dyno will tell you its there. This part doesn't create any 'NEW' power, rather reduces the amount of energy that is lost between the crank and the wheels.
The fact is, we enjoy our jobs way too much

Nothing to see, really. It's just a solid Delrin type material bushing in the stock carrier that bolts to the strut tower.
I'm actually changing it back to the stock bushing with the Ireland Engineering inserts. The solid mount creates WAY too much vibration for around town driving. I have rattles/vibes now that were never there before. If i'm going through the gears or highway driving it's great...but it's not worth the NVH around town.

And get the Race bushings as well so you can still get that 'lock'd 'n loaded' feeling down the highway.

Here is a place to get it with quick easy pull downs for the options if anyone need it.

I don't see why it wouldn't.
Edit: The part numbers are the same for all the cars, so yes it would work.
