Drivetrain BSH R53 Lower Engine Mount
I picked up the FPD from the shop just a lil' while ago. The LMM is on (courtesy of Dr.Steve & Chief) with the street bushings. There's a small amount of additional vibration, but response is more direct & "raw" which is exactly what I was looking for. After we get some mileage under our belt, we'll swap the street bushings out for the race bushings & then re-post. Keep up the great work bruthaman!

Understandable. For many applications, solid motor mounts will be very effective. However, on the R53, if all the motor mounts are solid, there is no give to prevent axle hop and it will eventually lead to axle failure.

I believe the silver(bare aluminum) one in the first post is actually a unfinished piece...you will have to confirm this with Sushil. I think the black anodized/powder coated one is the finished product...again, check with Sushil at BSH.

They all come in black. it's a hard coat. it's best for the Alum to have a coating.

Black Anodized is the only color available. The picture shown is a tester that was not anodized. If you do not anodize the aluminum, it will become oxidized and pitted overtime, especially if there is salt present.
We are looking into developing a Transmission Motor Mount at this time.
I just ordered one of the lowers from D/T, but I need to sit around in Iraq for a year before I install it
. Hopefully by that time you will have the trans/engine mount developed, and one of those will alo be sitting in my garage when I get home.

Here is my personal input on the BSH Lower Motor Mount. I have read all the posts in this thread and I think the opinions are nice but PICTURES tell the real stories. Since no one has posted pics of the install, here are mine.
Bottom line though is this is a HIGH QUALITY product that is made well and very easy to install for even beginners that know how to turn a wrench. In addition, if you have any questions on this product, you can talk to Sushil at BSH and he is very knowledgeable and drives a sweet Mini himself.
Here is the Motor Mount just after unwrapping it from the packaging:

Here is the factory motor mount as I am removing it:

Here is a picture of all it took to get to the mounts to swap them (15-20 minutes tops):

Here is the NEW mount installed on the car:

Here is the Motor Mounts side by side (NO COMPARISON):

Sweet man thanks for the install pics. how is everything working? Ibought one but cant install it for a year and when I can I've got sooooo many parts going on that it will be hard to notice one single pice.
Stay SAFE over there in Iraq and THANK YOU for your service!
My stock lower bushing developed a crack so at AMVIV, Way Motorworks installed a BSH lower mount. The first thing I noticed was greatly increased noise and vibration even as soon as I started the motor. I thought I would run the car awhile to see if it softened up any. I am still on my extended trip home so am not home yet. But I suspect the race version has been installed on my car. It is a bit too noisy for my liking. If there is an easy and inexpensive way to try out the street version to see if I like it, I would. Or I might consider going back to the a stock mount and take this as a $120 lesson learned.
HOWEVER,,,,after driving my car very long distances for a week, I do notice improvement in the cars handling in that when cornering hard at speed, my front wheels appear to stay better planted on acceleration. I guess that is what is meant by less wheel hop. The BSH lower mount does work to improve performance in this way.
