Drivetrain ***OFFICIAL SIGN-UP THREAD for FLASH TOOL***
Jan,
I am still getting a hesitation at about 3200rpm with the tune. No problems at all above 3800rpm. Have you had a chance to look into this? I believe there were a few posts of other people having the same issue.

^ Several people have the issue, including myself. I even did the famous "seafoam it" statement but it has still happened. I went as far as removing the intake manifold to look at my valves etc and there is literally NO build up what-so-ever to cause it.
Pre-tune it was fine. Post-tune it has the issue...that would make me think its the tune.

Hesitation at and around 3200 to 3600 rpm. Everything is great above that. Also, happens in any gear while under half to full throttle. I swear i even noticed it below 3k around 2800 the other day as well

Has to be the Tune, Pre-Tune car was running fine through the powerband. Just not as fun
I have had the dynotune following the canned tune and i still get hesitation, especially from cold start. It seems to hesitate all the way up to about 3000rpm. My idle is lumpy too, every 5 secs or so the revs drop then rise again back to s steady idle. Cooling fan seems to be on 80% of the time too, but I put that down to higher engine bay temperature due to turbo boosting much more. I have no heatshield either.
I notice the same thing going back to the stock ECU maps. crystal smooth idle and through the revs.
The tune definitely puts the engine into a 'I just wanna go' type feel. It is definitely comfortable with 1/2 to full gas. It doesn't hesitate flying up to the red line.
I can deal with it because for me the power increase totally outweighs the issues with the hesitation. The only time it bugs me is when my pregnant wife is in the car and it jerks her around.

hesitation sounds so negative, maybe it should just be referred to as that spot that doesn't pull as hard
Also waiting on the P&B, damn Thumper's be bragging about it since last November
Jan's coming to town in a week or two, so hopefully we can get it sorted.
This might be a little off topic, since it doesn't necessarily have to do with the RMW tune, but I've been following this thread for a while and there's been talk of the "flutter noise" from the diverter valve.
Tonight while I was driving(switching from 5-6 with about 11psi on my boost gauge), I heard the flutter noise, and I DON'T have any type of tune. Is this normal? It sounds identical to the vids posted several pages back(forgot who's it was).
I currently have the DoS Intake, which lets me hear the normal diverter valve "swish" noise. The rest is just a stock 2010(March build if that matters) MCS.

Srsly, I mean I dont think its THAT hard to implement...but yeah who knows I dont tune the darn things, I just drive it and call it a day. lol.
Maybe someday this year...

I got the dyno tune. I have an occasional hesitation that I hear pinging at the same time. It's better since I did seafoam and a BG intake cleaning, but it's still there occasionally. Irritating due to the money spent on the tune.
I'm starting to notice it more now as I push my car harder - I just finished the break-in period.
WOOHOO!!! Got my tune back from Jan today!!!
Thanks Jan for the quick turnaround! I really hope that I can make it to one of your events (you need to come to Nashville or Atlanta) to tighten this up even more.
Can't wait to get this loaded!

Update on Jan/RMW tune on my JCW
So I had a little bad luck today...

I was rear ended on the GW Bridge while on my way to a meeting in Manhattan. I drive my car home flashed it back to the original file and then drove it up to the dealer to have them do the repairs.
Its been a long time since I had the stock tune on the car. And all I can say is its night and day. I do not know what Jan does but its like a different car with his tune. Never cared much for what the dyno read all I cared about was how it drove. He totoally brings the engine to life. Like he taps into its reserve power source or something???
Sometimes you got to take something away to realize what you have.
Having said that I want more though, I know Jan can squeeze some more performance out of these little engines/turbos.

Once again, glad you're okay
initial impressions.....
- Installing the tune is crazy straight forward and a breeze as long as you just read the friggin instructions.
- Cold start has a little higher idle than stock
- Still have the burble and pop, although not as pronounced (stock DP to the factory JCW catback).
- Third and forth gears are magical.....love third....on the track, time and time again, I have found that I run out of third gear when I need it the most. The extra 500-600rpms are a nice welcome addition.
- Unless I am just too damn giddy to see/feel it, 3000-4000rpm hasn't seen a burp or stutter. I'll pay more attention to this as time goes.
- Beautifully predictable power curve all the through the rev range.
- Got the torque back I lost from removing the ED downpipe....sure do miss the sound from that DP though.......
- Still better with the sport button on.
- Gas mileage for the past day has totally gone to crap.....must learn to stay out of the damn throttle......
