Drivetrain RMW tuning day at Helix in Philly Mar/Apr '10
Meth does a car good. Oh and only use Pure Meth 99.95. 50/50 mix is crap and taste even worse.
I am using VP M1.
M1™
M1 Racing Methanol has a 99.95% minimum purity - the highest purity available in the U.S. With M1, engines run cooler and are less subject to corrosion. VP uses only lined drums which prohibit rust, corrosion and metal deposits that can contaminate fuel delivery systems. Recommended for all methanol-legal racing applications.
I would love to run pure meth. Unfortunately, my Son rides in the back seat. I just can't run it 6" behind where he sits. As I understand it though, 50/50 is basically windshield washer fluid, and not flamable. If it were only me in the car...
I need to find a place close to me to get the meth to avoid shipping.
I have been getting quite a few PMs about the RMW tune and why Jan introduced that crazy flutter sound.
I have the following engine mods on my JCW:
Helix intercooler
DoS intake
NM Engineering hot and cold side hard turbo tubes
I do not have a BOV in my car. Its the stock part.
Jan told me the following... he said its a map from the MINI Challenge car. He said that instead of having the valve blow off, he puts that flutter there to help the turbo spool quicker and get back on boost quicker after a shift. Its a weird noise. It does take a while to get used to it.
He also said that its a JCW thing. He does not add this map to a Cooper S tune.

the more i've had this tune, the more i'm enjoying it. sure peak power is pretty much the same (though i had hoped for a little more on the highways), but there's not the same hesitation anymore, it seems to start pulling right away and more smoothly. certainly makes it a lot more fun dodging and passing all the crazy taxis here.
