Intake & Exhaust Noise - Yes I searched :-)
Sorry - Wrong Place Moved to 2nd Gen Forum - My Bad - Thanks
Hi
I have been reading through many a post the past few days and can't seem to find any consistent info on noise levels / comparisons on Intakes and Exhausts
I want to get both but don't really like the loud blow off / hisssss of the intakes I've heard , Alta, M7, DDM, NM
I have 2007 Cooepr S --- I will tune the car in the spring but want to do the exhaust and intake now
I want a nice sounding exhaust and the benefits of new intake without the Darth Vader sound
Any thoughts? -- Thanks

It depends on which MINI you have R50 or R53.
Please feel free to call me and we'll discuss options and what sounds they all have. I'm happy to help.

If you have an S.....
The quieter intakes are JCW, and Dinian....there are others, that do various tradeoffs fore noise/price/style...are a bit louder, but "more fun". In my situation the price of the dinian for my s was right...the drawback is that the filter is a bit pricey.......Most JCW intakes have been modified with a "flap removal" to help them make noise at lower rpm's where they are as silent as stock.
The others do get louder, some can whistle, or even rust, so watch out. Also the plastic engine/firewall divider can be left in or removed with some intakes to adjust sound levels. Most intakes from what I hear all make similar HP.
I'd call Way and chat with him.....he has worked on/modded/raced more MINI's than most anybody....he sells some pretty good stuff to boot!
Edit: for the exaust the milteck/stratosphere is great if you want a nice sound, and don't want a drone, and are looking to avoid the boy racer sound. It seems IMO to be just about right.
