Drivetrain ECU flash, stumble, yo-yo..... *scratches head*

I just had a thought... Im planning on having me pulley done on Dec21. While Randy is knuckles deep in my car Im going to have the ECU done as well. I want the new version 36 software that fixes the stumble yo-yo problems. How is that going to work? Am I stuck with either having the Webbmotorsports flash or the version .36? Does the Webbflash fix the stumble/yo-yo?

It boils down to whose software do you trust.
Randy= reliable and high performance
MINI (BMW)= stumble and yo-yo risk, maybe 36 fixes it maybe not.
I'd go with the Webb/powership ECU flash.
Do you have stumble and yo-yo now?
I don't and have the original software version my MINI came with built 10/02.

The Power Chips ecu remapping doesn't wipe out all of MINI's factory mapping... it just changes a few parameters. But if you get Randy's remapping done, and then later upgrade to the latest factory software, it will overwrite Randy's remapping. Not to worry: Power Chips or Randy (either one) will mail you a cable and instructions so you can reflash your ecu to put back the Power Chips stuff. You pay ONLY for the FedEx cost to get the stuff to you. That way, you get the best of both worlds. I know this because I've already done it once. Great service from Randy!!!

>>How about I get the .36 done at the dealer before I go see Randy? Would that work out? I have more yo-yo then stumble, but it is there.
YES... if you get version 36.0 done before you see Randy, it'll work out fine. Randy's Power Chips remapping doesn't wipe out the MINI stuff... just vice versa. So go ahead and see MINI first, then see Randy.

Whoa--
I don't know when your pulley party is, but be aware that the new stumble-fixing version may not be out in time. If I were you I would DEFINITELY get the newest version before getting Randy's software. People are reporting that the newest MINI-direct software is giving much better performance in many different areas. To be on the safe side, you might want to call your dealer and see if he is participating in the "Mail My ECU to Jersey" program. It seems that every dealer in the country is doing this--essentially, you leave your car at the dealer, they send the chip to Jersey, it gets flashed there, and then you're in business. The whole process typically takes three days (one day to Jersey, one day to flash, one day back home).
Just do it! :smile:
