Putting a Mini SC into an Alfa Romeo

Hi folks

I'm considering supercharging my 91 Alfa Romeo Spider using a Mini supercharger.

I don't want/need the water pump setup at the back. Has anyone heard of, or thought about, what would happen if I blocked of the back of the unit by removing the back plate with its gear and replacing it.

Also, any other thoughts from those more experienced than I would be very gratefully received.

Regards
Simon

You would be better off getting a supercharger thats a bit more universal.

The MINI supercharger has brackets and bolt holes cast into it for use on the MINI specifically.

This is more of what you would want.

Nice package

Perhaps true Rick, but its a well designed and compact package that actually fits the Alfa and isn't toooo expensive.
Thanks for the comment

You shouldnt have any problems taking out some of the parts and putting a plate over it. This is what you do when you convert the car to an electric water pump and still want to keep the supercharger.

Simon,

Really don't even need any plate. I just removed the water pump.

Here is a mercedes 190 16V with one.

is thinking about doing the very same thing. Really, it's a question about how much it costs to get the SC and will it fit where you want it to go.

Have at it and let us all know how it works out!

Yep

Greg

Both of those setups look pretty good. I think I will take the back plate off and fab a blank plate, as the water pump gears were shot.

How did you get the intake to stay on? That throttle body looks like it is not supported but it might just be the angle of the pic.

Many thanks for the encouragement from you and Dr. Obnxs
