Pricey is right, although I am all for quality work that's double the going rate of a Magnflow system, and $600 more than the what the local shop will charge for a Magnaflow style system using Magnaflow mufflers. I would spend the extra $500 elswhere. IMOP

With the exception of the tips, doesn't this Remus exhaust look allot like
the AC Schnitzer. I think it only costs around $700. For the record, I've heard the Schnitzer exhaust before and it sounds nice, although I'm not sure of any performance gains.

Right you are, schnitzer has all their exhausts made by remus. The only difference is you can only get the ac schnitzer tip style from them.Rest of the systems are identical.

Finally a system that makes the supersprint seem reasonable.

So AC is selling these exhaust for almost $300 more than the Remus for the tips alone! You have got to be crazy. All of the exhaust are so overpriced, R&D or not. This just goes to prove why they are overpriced.

AC Schnitzer would not sell their exhaust at $999 retail unless there was clearly a market for them to sell it at that price and having a custom tip that looks like no other is one approach. Having name recognition in Europe for high quality upgrades all around is what you are partly paying for. If you are more interested in a no nonsense approach to exhaust upgrades then look elsewhere. There are still many choices.

The price of exhausts reflects the small MINI aftermarket numbers. It is a hard battle to fight because the numbers are literally stacked against us. The other option for some is to wait and try to pick up parts used which should be better than retail.

Many of the exhaust options for the MINI are overdone and too costly. Someone is making a buck out there. Pilo (or any other resourceful fabricator)-make us a good kick your butt exhaust- lightweight-nothing pretty until the tip which should be unique, with moderate power increases and growl in a nice but deep way for half the price of the competition.

Why do they call it V2A stainless instead of 304 stainless?

It is the same.
From
http://www.techpilot.net/servlets/Au...amp;lngCode=en
V2A = stainless steel, rust-proof (also known as 304 aluminum)
V4A = stainless steel, rust-proof and acid-proof

you must not speak German. "Schnitzer" is German for "Expensive."

I agree with what ubercooper says, finally a system that makes the supersprint look reasonable. I think the pricing on exhausts has gone out of control for such a small system.... complete systems on corvette z06's cost the same...

I think some mini aftermarket manufacturers are of the ilk that if you price the product upwards, it puts the car in a higher class.

Someone should give them a news flash.

but yeah, if i had an extra grand lying around, i'd get that exhaust. it IS beautiful...

"Shipping Weight:60.00 pounds"

I'd still like to see a picture of the system though...

Probably not, that's about right for the dimensionalized weight of the system's box. That's how most companies have to calculate shipping, not by the actual weight but the dimensionalized weight.
