Drivetrain HOLY CRAP! I knew it would work, but I didn't expect this well!
Anybody get the newest version that WayMotorWorks is selling with the 3 postion sensitivity? I guess it is off, mild, and agressive.
Sounds like it might solve some of the issues people are talking about. I'm curious how easy it is to adjust....do you have to uninstall it to flip a dip switch, or can you just reach down and push a button on the side?

I saw the new version at SEMA. I only saw the demo display, so I cannot talk about if it has an external switch (which I think it would) Actually, SprintBooster won Best New Product of the SEMA Show...the entire show. Crazy!

The SB will give your R50 a kick, but will not put it up there with a R53. what you need to get your R50 moving is a good dyno tune. As the prior owner of an R50, I will say it was one of the funnest cars I've owned. I still say it handled better than my current R53, but I have a lead foot and needed a little more pep. The SB will dramatically change the way you feel about the car. After experiencing it, you might end up wanting to pour some more money into it. Even a head, cam, injectors, and a tune can make the R50 a blast to drive. But with that amount of money, you might want tonthink about finding an S. It sounds like you want speed anyway. The R50 isn't for everybody. Hope this helps you.
Little off topic but did you have any problem with the midlands in your R50? That is my only concern about keeping it. That, and it has 82k miles on it. Just wondering how long it'll go. If I can keep it till around 140-150k without upping chunks of money to keep it running, I'd prefer to keep it.
Thanks.
The front page has the announcement from WayMotorWorks about the new version of the sprintbooster. The fron page here on NAM under vendor announcements....I would assume other vendors will get then as their old stock is depleted. The thought of beaing able to adjust a SprintBoosters sensivity sounds like a great idea!!
The M7 one looks good as it seems to be fully adjustable...any feedback from R56 owners.
And how long untill the R53 version?????

I don't need 190 wHP or anything to have fun with it. I really do like my R50 and would like to keep it but I after driving the S, I miss the throttle response it had. If I can up the throttle response to get rid of the lag, I would be content I think. Like you said, maybe a tune + SB is all I need. I'll probably get the NS1 cam along with it just to get it some umph but doubt I'll spend a couple grand on headwork, even though it is tempting to have a mean R50! BTW, I prefer the roar of the n/a cars compared to the whine of the Ss.

No the one I have is the REAL Sprint Booster. They just came out with it. The button is an external button with a wire that runs to the switch. You can either leave the switch plugged in or set it and remove the switch. It will work either way.
Oh and it is for ALL MINI's R50,R52,R53, R55, R56,R57

I traded my R50 in 2006 with 54k on the clock. The Midland didn't inspire much confidence. I had no problems with it, but it just didn't feel as solid as it did when I first bought it. It seemed to make a clunk when taking off in first. Maybe it was just the axles having a little play before turning the wheels, but I just didn't want to deal with it. Here's the deal, you should be safe. The Midlands trouble year was '03.........lo and behold the last year BMW sourced Midland for the trannies. Rumor has it they just through shoddy units in some of the cars.
Oh Way, I might be looking into the new spring booster. I'll give you a ring when I decide.
Ok thanks. I knew 03 was a known trouble year but I just assumed it was for all R50s. This makes me feel better. Mine has 82k miles and still running solid. I still baby it though just incase

Here are some pics. As you can see the button has a long wire connecting it to the module. The switch can be disconnected from the module after it is set so you don't have the switch visable in the car.

Considering both the MC and MCS both share 95% of the same parts including pedal assemblies and throttle bodies I'd love an explanation as to it how it only works on an MCS.
