Drivetrain (Cooper S) MINI Cooper S (R53) intakes, exhausts, pulleys, headers, throttle bodies, and any other modifications to the Cooper S drivetrain.

Drivetrain HOLY CRAP! I knew it would work, but I didn't expect this well!

Don't know. Maybe email RMW. Jan is REALLY knowledgeable and can answer this one I'm sure.

Maybe the two (SB or Velocity and an RMW tune) together will yield some great results.

Neither of these devises make horsepower.....they simply amplify the speed that the computer sees the accelerator getting moved. Due to computer programing....there is a bit more lag than our cars are really capable of doing..so installing the sprintbooster helps make the pedal and the engine more responsive. Many folks say it is the best $300 spent on their cars, along with the pulley....and people with boltons do have them..and auto's..but there is a slightly different version for the auto to ensure optimium opperation I think.
The way I understand it, ecu tuning does not effect what you computer sees from the accelerator pedal, even if they are able to make more hp, etc.

I have read in NAM that there been problems associated with the reduction pulley but I believe it was anything greater than 15%. What do you think?

I run a 17%, and was very skeptical, but for non track use, it is great. If I red- lined my car lots or tracked it, then a 15% would be approprite...sorry to get off topic folks....but everybody I know with the sprintbooster loves it!!! I want one....I think it may be my next performance upgrade.

Couldn't see this from your site, but if it's the one I read a while back on another site, the guy makes bogus claims aganst the SB and obviously hasn't driven my car without one. If it's not the same one and indeed he is praising the SB, well my apologies.

Just remember, people that get a sprint booster say it is as if they got their pulley installed again. Both items should do the same, so I would shop based upon price, features, and product history, longevity, and user reports on experance. Lots of folks have the older SB, love it, and the new features make it better!!! Just my opinion and my .02

The Sprint booster with the Jan tune is sure to be an eye opening experience.

I got it in the mail yesterday & installed it this afternoon within 10 minutes. This gave me phenomenal improvement in my throttle response & corrected the well known lag most Mini Coopers are known for. This being the updated version, has three different settings so it's not always set in the maximum mode as the earlier units came from the factory. This will come in handy just in case you're suck in bumper-to-bumper traffic so you can set it back to stock mode where the the response isn't so sensitive. I highly recommend this product for anyone that wants to bring new life to their Mini's throttle response, have fun!

Thank you for asking I am not familiar with the Sprint Booster but here is what I can say about the Velocity unit.
  • 4 power profiles selection (min, medium 1, medium 2, maximum), adjustable by the touch of a button on the control panel to suit different driving needs
  • Unique “On/Off” button that allows users to switch off the unit if they want to drive the car in factory mode
  • Built-in memory function that retains last preset setting upon powering on
  • Optimized throttle characteristics to enable immediate throttle response to the engine in real-time, resulting in faster throttle response.
  • Simple “plug-and-play” using MINI OEM Connectors, with no other modifications required
  • Slim and Compact design, with high quality finishing
  • Easy to completely remove from vehicle if necessary

This link will take you to our page which has a video presentation of the product. We have been told that the R-53 series is in development at this time.

Since the SB is not intended to be a "performance" mod and since the SB is connected to the accelerator pedal and overtime, the sensitivity is dulled down by the ECU, what does the M7 module control? It would seem that the ECU would have to "learn" the different settings of both these products.

Ahhh, just read the product description. I think I'm going to go with the SB since there is one already on the market right now.
