Drivetrain Camshaft Re-Grind
hye thumper, do you know what the specs are for the newman camshaft? I have seen 2 different specs for the same cam, both on newman charts. I assume one of those specs is right, the other is the wrong one.
of course, that might not matter to most, because i think it was on the cooper cams, not an S cam, but as I have a cooper, it does matter to me.
Im also not sold on the nitrosticks specs. Longer exhaust durrations just dont make sense to me, or Isky for that matter. and were the rockerarm ratios even correct on that cam sheet? (the 1.75) because i have other numbers, and want to make sure im dealing with the correct one.
thanks

The Camshaft has proven performance!! And those numbers have all been by independent shops.. !! I have some advise on how to pull a bit more power from the NS1 cam for your n/a MINI, however I will not whisper that procedure, as it will only cause MORE confusion!! LOL
For the novice builder... try this: Schrick is a small performance bolt in/ the NS1 is more power bolt in / the Newman- NS2 requires ( They say) a tune and inj to pull all the power from those. ( actually they ALL will pull more power with a tune... however some DONT have tuning available, yes?) I also suggest that the cost is a key!! To install a camshaft is an easy task!! (2-4 hours depending on skill level) try one!! and enjoy the power and performance gains.. yes??
Longer exhaust duration is a plus for a boosted engine... the longer exhaust duration on a N/A engine is also OK!! ISKY cam is one of the best. (THEY ARE the company that started the SAE specs we use in the US today!!). I sure would not dispute them. But what flow numbers and valve size, RPM level exhaust type, did you give them, for them to reach their decision?? I know ISKY doesnt make blanket statements!!
Have fun....

I won’t whisper my advice for extracting more from the Cooper, it’s something all should be made aware of, and it applies to both the NA Cooper & FI MCS. One of the main strengths of the NS1 camshaft is the ability to produce great low & mid range torque, a strong attribute of larger valves is carrying the torque peak later and higher, combine the two and add intelligent engineering, you get better than the best of both. It’s one of those win situations where the whole of the torque curve becomes greater than the sum of the two parts. The BVH with cam-intelligent engineering that unleashes NS1 synergism comes from ENDYN. There are a few other less costly modifications that can help the NA Cooper, but they are more rpm & application dependant.
I knew you would like the cam Justin
Again...... It has proven that you dont need BIG STUFF to make solid power in the MINI!!
Loving it.....

Consider the locale before coming to conclusion:
Also insteresting is comparing the Schrick R50 to the Schrick R53 in the context of the NS1.

Wow this guy cant even spell. I'm surprised he didn't at least use the spell check option to make himself look intelligent.
glad to see there is a cheap option!

Oh my god i feel like they should get shot down and told to do the proper thing too.
Way to go some guy...
Just an FYI it dose happen to everyone i just happened to be the first one their
This reeks of fail.
I can think of several people who have mensioned someone elses product and been reminded of the site guidelines
The last example that i could think of was Longboard.
that turned into quite the can of worms.
Honestly my objection was the guy was banned for causing a complete ruckus as much as possible.
and now that hes gone its calmed down alot
Why would i want to have it come back.

If all goes well .. I will test the Newman( cam of many names) / NS1 / NS2 against the 8* advanced stock cam next week. It will be in Fl. heat on a "Dyno-Jet" with an UN-TUNED 06. I will post the differances in HP and torque between the cams. Also , of course, the power will be more if you tune after the camshaft... however, I still have more mods to do before I get a Tune.

Slow on the uptake are we dustin
Sorry that English is not my first or even second language.
Remember Cheap when it comes to an engine is a bad idea.
