I'm not familiar enough with r53s to know what you mean? Did you find a way to increase line pressure or something on the new trannys? Or just new mapping for the engine??

Sounds great! Let us know when you're able to come up to the SF Bay Area. I'm looking forward to getting some extra punch in my Mini.

I don't know if it's from the custom Exhaust Depot or RMW's tune but my car burbles PERFECTLY... not too much, not too little. Just enough that when you shift it burbles and when backing off the gas.

I love that sound.

Mark, not fair... The 09 JCWs have a nice burble with the JCW exhaust, your ED exhaust just enhances the burble.

Btw, I'm thinking of changing out the muffler and tips that come with my ED, any suggestions?

Also, on your RMW tune, do you have any flutter when you power up in the gears?

Whoooaaa, what do you mean, "it's not fair"... don't you have the ED exhaust and downpipe?

Funny you should mention that... I was severely tempted in installing my JCW muffler and tips just to see what it would sound like. I ended up selling it so I never got a chance. If you come across something, let me know. I like the exhaust with two resonators but a tad quieter wouldn't displease me.

Why are you changing yours? Still too loud?

You mean from the blow-off valve? A flutter when you shift.... yep, sure do.... all you hear is ROOOAAAARRR, piisssshhhhhh, bebebeb <- international word for flutter)

Would prefer the exhaust without the flutter but apparently it's part of how long and how soon the blow-off valve opens and is open.

I have the ED full, but no downpipe on my 07 R56, we don't burble, damn!

Looking for a new note in the exhaust and I'm not happy with the way the exhaust sits ((low) and a bit crooked)), I think it was a bad build by ED, from what I can see on NAM, perhaps the last unit built.

Something a bit more mello to my ears.

Actually the flutter is on accelerating and holding the revs. Not on the upshift or downshift. Kinda a wavering sound as you rev to a point then hold the trottle position. I get the piisssshhhh, bebebeb, on shifts, too.

I will tell you this.... the exhaust they build is usually pretty damn good fitting. The littliest tweak will change everything.

It took me over an hour to position the second resonator in place to make the exhaust fit perfectly.

Just a suggestion.

check your hangers, mine kept sitting lower & lower, then coming back from one road trip I noticed it was really low, the right hanger had broken off. Probably too much tweaking on my part.

& yes, Mark, your JCW has the burble from the factory (software mapping) that they removed from the US & CDN MCS'. Glad to see I'm not the only one who's missing it.

The ironic part is on both of my gen I minis, I hated the burble, it was too much. My '08 MCS did not burble at all.

But the JCW.... ouuuuuu, she's so sexy.

I will have to spend some time on the lift checking the hangers and position. Later this week since we are getting some cool weather.

Oh, I wish I had burble.. Just not fluttter.

Anyone have updates on the flash units for the R56? Jan, you heard anything?

All take care, I love my tune, power and exhaust, just being a MINI owner.

Reading all 23 pages has made me think I should just save the 10+K over the CJ and buy an 07 Mini Cooper S. Comparing used vs used.

Seems that the JCW is not worth it. That is circa extra 15whp more compared to the S. That's 667 dollars a hp.

You'll notice I'm driving an '09 JCW this year.

Yeah, it's worth it.

Did you ever tune your 08 before you traded?

Plus the JCW weighs 100kg more than the base S.

a base cooper s and a base jcw should be within a few pounds of each other. the only items that would add weight to the jcw would be the brakes and the 17 in wheel and tire combo.

No, I did install the JCW Stage I kit but never had the ecm written over. I imagine it was putting out what every other Stage I kit puts out... 189 hp'ish. (I think... don't remember now)
