Are u serious??

Even with the tune, I have hardly any torque steer, and only get wheel spin when I'm powershifting between gears...and certainly have no wheel hop.

I swear all the R56's are completely different. Some people say the torque steer is horrible in stock form, and others say its non existent. Although more pronounced than my R53 was...I have never felt a torque steer issue in my car. Perhaps cuz it has been lowered since it was new basically, but who knows. As long as the road is flat, I can pretty much floor it with my hands off the steering wheel and it will go straight.

Unfortunately, yes.
Not only do I get wheel hop if I decide to gun it coming out of a corner, but especially in 2nd, the car will literally shoot off the road if I am not "ready" and hold on tight.
Sounds like they really are different. I remember test-driving one in '07 when they came out.... the torque steer was so bad, that at the time I decided to keep my '03 Cooper... at least it didn't try to yank me off the road....
My '09s is better, but you still have to watch.

For me, the thing that makes the biggest difference was lowering my car and putting on more aggressive suspension. I had horrible torque steer with my stock setup. After the new suspension the torque steer is totally gone.

Yea, in regards to your "flying off the road" when you accelerate hard out of corner.

I can floor it mid-turn and it just pulls the car around through the turn, right where I want to go. Almost like AWD....except not....haha

There's certainly better LSD's than the stock one, but compared to having an open diff like yours...it makes a world of difference.

Jan,

You would have to come home while I am sitting in Maui, just itching to spend money. I ordered a catted downpipe from Riss, and am looking to get an Helix or Alta intercooler, plus DDM intake. I am assuming I should wait for the tune until I have everything installed. I need to find a dyno in SF valley for base number, before any I install the bolt on upgrades. Then when Jan does his magic I can see how much HP bolt ons really give me or not.

The RMW custom tuning is looking pretty impressive so far. I have a couple of questions:

I have an otherwise stock 07 R56 MCS with the JCW Stage 1 engine tuning kit. Was there a similar car that got the RMW tuning done on it recently? How much hp and torque gains?

Are there any plans for a tuning day in the southeast region of the country any time soon?

My base line on the dyno was 191 HP, 200 Ft-Lb Torque; after it was massaged, the dyno showed 207 HP, 230 Ft-lb Torque. The gains may not look like much on paper, but the difference in seat-of-the-pants was definitely noticeable. I am quite happy.

That's about right... a tune turns about an add'l 20 HP and 20 ftlbs of torque over a stock tune.

The factory JCW is about 20 over that for HP and torque... which again, is about right because Jan's tune on my JCW left me at 221/250

Guess the results are pretty consistent.

You're 'Garage' specs indicate you have an Alta Turboback. Is this still installed?
