Drivetrain Turbo vs Supercharged MINIs - let's meet at the track, RMW!!!

Just to be clear...
I'm certainly not opposed to any vendor bringing anything to this community. I love competition and I love doing my own research and homework. Its what's made owning my car the fun time its been.
I just don't want Mike or anyone to think I'm against Mynes or any vendor for that matter. I think the challenge could have been better defined on his part. Especially when bringing it against someone as well liked and know as RMW in this community

The challenge could have been CLEARLY defined just fine, and all that needed to be done was to find one tid bit to say No, not fair... Mike opened the door for debate and compromise...however theres been little of that, and more of a shove match that IMHO some of the participants in this thread are TOO used to doing in this community....

I hope to see your car at SOW, whether you and Jan can come to an agreement or not. As said before, the competition alone will bring even more improvements in products for our MINIs. Good luck to you and Jan, this is going to be exciting if it comes to fruition!

For real....
Mike called Jan out on here with unclear undefined rules. He didn't expect this? He also had the ***** to tell the community not to get involved??? Why not send a PM?
Again.... mike should have been a bit more de-script with his challenge. For me, Mike is a newcomer to the game. If he is or isn't.... he is for me. Will I defend Jan? Sure, he's my friend and I believe in the parts he's making for the Mini. Would I defend Mike if he was a new vendor being bashed for no reason? You bet.
This was a pretty "open" challenge from him the way I see it
Anyway, guess I'll see how this progress or de-gresses tomorrow. Ima go snuggle with the wife See you dudes and dudettes tomorrow

I'm sure Mike is well aware that Jan has been working on his 2.0 with new TVS SC, and new engine management system. It would be ignorant of Mike to think that Jan wouldn't be running this set-up if challenged to "bring it" for a track day.

Since it's a street car... PLAN ON DRIVING IT THERE.... with current tags.... registration..... a/c if it came with the car... and if it's not on the car... better have the sticker from the dealer that show's it didn't come with a/c
full interior trim with all of the seats etc.............
you wanted this.... you got it........

Jan, not a problem. We'll be driving the car to the track with the AC, power-steering, etc... So i'm assuming your car will have the stock-sized 1.6L motor with the stock ECU, correct? Should we limit the driver to be 'non-professional'?
Modifications that are allowed:
- upgraded engine internals
- ported heads with internals
- bigger injectors
- upgraded SC for you; turbo charger for mine
- max of 116 Octane fuel to be utilized at the tracks.
Feel free to add to the list so we can work out the details.

This forum (like many others on the net) is a professional community designed for information sharing and to be educational in nature so we can all become more knowledgeable about our vehicles. But often times, this forum has been consumed by one vendor claiming superiority of his product over everybody else's parts... and I'm tired of this argument over whether Turbo R53's or Supercharged (SC) R53's are faster on the track.
To settle this argument once and for all (and so we have no more bashing on this forum over this subject), I proposed a challenge to Jan at RMW. Bring your fastest supercharged MINI to the tracks and let's settle this on the tracks like professionals.

Dude for a guy so confident in his tunning skills...that can scale 750 CC injectors and so forth, why don't you just tune your ECU as well . This challenge is about who is the best tuner...RWM's set of tools against Mynes'. I know that is what I want to see .

Well, i certainly learned my rookie lesson here on NAM I have updated my response on Post #2
First of all, you can not assume that people understand the basic rules of negotiating. It's called open discussion and not whatever RMW says is the rule.
With that said, Mynes will bring a MINI out to the Redline Time Attack at Willow Springs. We will bring a car that meets the requirement as defined in the 'Street Class" category.
Here are the rules: http://www.redlinetimeattack.com/street_rules.htm
***all other terms previously agreed upon are 'null and void'***
But for you Jan, the 2.0L might meet the requirement of the Street Class and the aftermaket ECU will put you out of the Street Class (most likely). You can check with the Redline folks to get that clarified.
