$15,000 for mods. What do I get???

Here's the Deal. I'm in the Navy and I have $15,000 to spend for mods. I have a paid off bone stock 2005 Mini Cooper S with 31,000 miles. My goal is to spank my brothers 2009 BMW 135i with those twin turbos. I would like to build a car with a reliable 250+ whp with the suspension to handle it. I've been doing alot of reading and theres quite a few options. Suggestions?

Depends on how capable you need the suspension to be (i.e. if you're going to track the car, or you just want a badazz street car).

If you were going to spend most of the whole shebang on go-fast... RMW stroker engine, and you pass the 250 mark and have a monster.

Otherwise:
RMW Cam, Head, Header, Tune; Injectors, Brisk Plugs, exhaust, intake, 15-17% pulley and you're breathing down the throat of 250whp

Suspension:
Depends on what you want, how low you want to go, etc.
Either coilovers, or springs
rear swaybar
endlinks, control arms, etc.
TSW Xbrace
Camber plates

I'm going for a fire breathing street car. No aspirations to track it, but track days are not out of the option. I'd like flat-neutral handling, without being super twitchy. I'm looking at coilovers. I'm looking to lighten the car as well i.e. back seat delete, 17" 16lb wheels w/lo-pro Pirellis, deleting other unnecessaries, lightened suspension parts, 19" rear sway bar, strut tower braces, etc etc

Keep it safe and keep it on the button!!!

A Head/ CAI / 15% pulley ( power and sweet sound) / exhaust cat back( not so much power, but another sweet sound) / a water meth system (to keep it safe )/ then a wet NOS system!! ( Power on control, when you want it and when you need it!!) *Then a posi and tires!! LOL
All the above with out a tune will put 250-260 WHP and 260+ Tq to the ground!! Depending on the parts you chose and the labor you do your self..
cost can be as little at $3000.00 to the $15,000.00 you have in your pocket!!

Just remember to shop around... have fun making a Killer street car and smoking your bro's Beemer with the MINI beemer..lol

Just me..........................

Follow what Sushil just said to the T and you will have your brother in your rear view mirror for sure. Do it right from day one and don't deviate and you will be very happy once its all done.

You should get an expensive sound system, tailored for audiophile sound quality and tuned for the acoustics of the car. No boomy bass.

I'd say that for power, the RMW stroker would be best. Maybe you can get one with that new supercharger Jan's been working on.

It appears that Tuls has checked out of the Mini scene Though nitrous would be fun, not for me. I'm up for spankin superchargers or a sweet turbo setup if it'll fit and not blow my engine before 50,000 miles. I'll look into Detroit tuned. What other shops get the props for leaving the competition behind?

just stick with the basics.. intake, pulley, exhaust, tune... u dont need 250whp to beat a 135i... just get one of these..

just use it off the line...you'll scare the **** out of him and you'll win

If you have $15K to turn the MINI into what is not (Hint: A straight line car) then why not trade in the MINI, add the $15K and get a 135i and call it a day?

I like big things in small packages. Besides, you can park a Mini anywhere and still have room for a 70's cadillac behind it

Hubie has been in the high HP Mini business longer than anyone and can put a complete package together for you well within your budget. Now that he is on NAM many will benefit in a variety of ways . Here is a thread dealing with one of his most recent builds .

That car now has a very very very trick FMIC and some other goodies from what brian has told me. Hubie, Brian, and Tuls built that car made people see that the UNPOSSIBLE is actually really fun.

if you brother mods his 135 I think you will be hard pressed to beat him in a straight line no matter how much money you spend
