Drivetrain $15,000 for mods. What do I get???
course u could do the Porsche brake upgrade....but seriously man talk to jan...im in the navy myself and did lots of work through him....plus if you have an issue he is more than happy to help u through it...and for 15k you could break the 300+whp category...i did the header/cam/tune plus all the other bolt ons and a 15% pulley and put down 215 whp...trust me its attainable without breaking the bank
jan isnt kidding the new R56 JCWs come with 4 or 6 pistol brembos up front and i think 2 piston ones in the rear and all it takes is the standard modification to make them work i think
4 pot fronts, standard MINI 1 pot rears.
Not all of us paid $6000 more for our Minis.
Here's the Deal. I'm in the Navy and I have $15,000 to spend for mods. I have a paid off bone stock 2005 Mini Cooper S with 31,000 miles. My goal is to spank my brothers 2009 BMW 135i with those twin turbos. I would like to build a car with a reliable 250+ whp with the suspension to handle it. I've been doing alot of reading and theres quite a few options. Suggestions?

Are there any good threads for the higher horsepower Mini's out there? My searches either brought back too much or no threads at all. My eyeballs are about to explode from watching Youtube Mini's all day!

And here is the same car pulling well over 400 whp back in the day when Hubie was part of fireball Racing .

Damn...I havent seen those in a long time...
I dont know....its hard to really know what your thinking when the little black eye ***** are rolling around so quick....
I thought no one cared about drag MINI engines
Here's the dyno sheet for said engine

Cross-drilled rotors are mostly for looks. Ask the guys who really track their cars a lot. If you are after function and want to track the car, don't cross-drill. It looks kinda good for a street machine, but IMO, would sorta go against your "sleeper" direction.
I wasn't and no one does care about drag racing Mini's... that's the point
For the RECORD......... I didn't need to use a GT35R to get that power either
here was the first dyno on the RMW turbo car.... NOTE^^^^^ 13 PSI................365whp /308tq
yes.... 13PSI.................................
It took your turbo car 28psi just to get close to it.............. NO NITROUS EITHER
How soon you forget I was the first Mini owner to ever get to 300whp and 350whp WITHOUT NITROUS
.........first and ONLY to 300whp with a supercharged car on pump gas and NO NITROUS......btw..................STILL WAITING FOR YOUR TURBO CAR TO BEAT THE TIME AT SOW............................................... ........................

metaltometal,
All kidding aside,Jan is the one to go to for a performance Mini. The combination of drivability & performance is what allows you to get in your car daily(or every few hours
) and wear a big grin while doing it!
Move to California so you can be close to him and Danny(top notch mechanic @ Minicorsa)
-no disrespect intended to the "other" qualified tuners and mechanics in the Mini community

let's talk about the truth of turbo MINI cars.......... everyone is looking a peak numbers which doesn't tell the story at all...............
case in point

I will break this down for Paul and everyone else that gets confused with the charts............
even when you take the run that started at 900rpms......(try this at full load with a turbo and see what happens
) the average hp was 148whp even though it ran another 1300 rpms of run time which affect the calculations
Average torque was 788 ft lbs which converts to about 175-178 ft lbs AVERAGE even though it traveled 1300rpms more over the same time frame
so now lets compare a run on the supercharged car from 2400-7400 which was only 200 rpms less than the turbo cars run...............
average HP jumps to 178whp
Big difference with that 1400rpms taken off
........average tq was 840 converted to equal about 187 ft lbs
ACROSS THE ENTIRE RANGE................................... as Paul has said numerous times......AREA UNDER THE CURVE IS BETTER THAN BIG HP
(thanks Paul
)
Now let me help you with the dyno chart of the turbo... look no further than the stated AVERAGE HP IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER............(I wonder why this wasn't left on any of the other sheets posted around NAM?) I doubt you will see any more of these turbo cars posting those numbers.... it shows you how narrow the power band is and why the car is an on/off switch. When the TVS is complete I will post the final tally.... I can tell you already it's a slaughter of mythic proportions
so for 3 more psi of boost you get this........
average total power 134whp
average total torque 153wtq
as you can see........ big numbers don't equate to much unless you can keep it in a 2000 rpm band the whole time.........fun to drive around a track? Good luck
Great to impress your friends.........definitely
Always.........make sure your tuner shows you that data, it's a telling story

And as for a race car, how many passes has it really made at 630hp+? I think it's dropped more valves than made successful passes.
Scheer's road race car is dropping valves at the high 300hp mark.
The black widow car car broke at the Eurotuner challenge running a 15 second 1/4 mi making 400hp+
I really wouldn't hang my hat on these three cars.

Its possible to disagree about things without having to put other's work and products down...
This was the final cut to why I will never have an RMW product on/in my car...
I am an all red MCS. Did I see you on "the Snake" about 2-3 weeks ago?
That was me two weeks ago in my dads 05 Gray/Black MCS. Too funny.
oops, nevermind. I was on the Dragon going back and forth.
