Paul, without getting into the middle of the pissing match going on, why do you need an AFC? While I tune many cars with them, I've always considered them a bandaid if you have access to the factory ECU.

BTW, while it isn't a Mini, and I'm not a fan of the whole "trap speed as a measure of hp", here is a little data you can use for comparison now that you have Dynapack numbers.

2700 lbs w/driver
FWD
NA 2.0 liter I4
275-280 hub hp on my Dynapack (and 180 lbs-ft)

12.3@109 mph at Pomona (800 ft, 88F, 29.9", 30% RH)

12.2@110 mph at Sacramento (100 ft, 68F, 30.0", 45% RH)

(sorry I don't have the numbers to higher precision, this is an employee's car so I don't have the slips handy, weather conditions were taken from historical data)

I think if you correct those traps to NHRA standard (0 ft, 59F, 29.92", 0 humidity) and compare them to the times achieved post Dynapack test in the UK you'll find a pretty close relationship - close enough to be within the usual margin of error for driver, traction issues, etc. that you find at the track.

Big show I would doubt any of your numbers, I did some digging on you and it appears your magic box may be correct but your data is not all true.

I read last night how a circuit time of yours was used to bash others and then it turns out you were not the driver and it was a different circuit!

It must be a sad planet you live on!

That was a foolish joke started by myself that went wrong, I worded it from memory that Big Show was at castle coombe and run a 1.18, my next line was going to be from car park to burger stand.

Cant remember why i never done the next line to be honest, I think I went off for a meeting.

The AFC was put on at the start of 06 and to be honest I've hardly used it, but have played with it now and then, Chris refers to them as a bodge module.

It has been doing some weird stuff lately like puting in fuel where its not scaled in the rpm etc etc.

Like I said I had one accelartion test the other day where whatever is interferring with everything didn't and it went very well, no dyno graph no 1/4 mile ticket just butt dyno.

Feb 14th is next RWYB, as I've typed this I've remembered what that date is, so looks like a lot off creeping from now to then has to be done

So do dynos lie, not really but my 1/4 mile mph on the day proved I was 17 horsepower down from my dynapack, why ?

Because of an electrical gremlin, it could be a snagged wire in the engine loom, look how much Kellis car gained when changing 2 sensors and wiring loom.

Thats why its alwyas nice to go to the drag strip with a bunch of Mini petrolheads, because you can see if your car is performing as it should or in my case NOT.

What all of you have to remember is that my customers will go to the dragstrip, and boy do they learn different techniques on how to drive there Mini, also they have a better understanding of them as well.

So for me I know I cant pull the wool over there eyes and say that this dyno reads low so X the mph number you have by 1.15, you cant do that with a timeslip.

But what happens when the RMW customer does go to Pomona to check out what his car runs, thats why its better as a tuner to cover all bases?

Paul had problems on the day. Its pretty much the same as when my car went out for the first time it underperformed :(

As some of you know building a fast car can take time even when you have all the right parts there is no guarantee it's going to work straight away. It's taken well over 3 months to get my car to the state it is in now. Is there any-more to come? Maybe. I know we'll be looking.

People are bashing Paul for the car not performing well enough. He'll be in the workshop sorting out the problems like any other tuner and come back stronger. Will it be enough? I hope not because I like being at the top

Oh and I wonder who this could be

Get a life and dig a bit deeper next time you sad little man before signing up on here and jumping in, please, link me to where I said I drove a time at a track day when in fact my car was being driven by somone else.

Are you talking about when John Barker from EVO magazine drove the car at Bedford perhaps?? Pauls joke about me going from the car park to the burger van in 1.18 after I spent a day with the Challenge team watching them drive Castle Combe?

Would love to see this reading material if you've got it, or if not... jog on pal!

you have a VERY selective memory..... remember the guy who ran 13.9 with ONLY 199whp?................ done on a dynapack? The same dynapack that read 253whp with all of my parts on it a few minutes later?

changing a head is NOT like putting on a turbo kit or Rotrex or TVS
you swap the head throw it on the dyno and tune it....

quite simple really unless you have problems tuning cars

blah blah blah my dad is harder than your dad

Big Howe, I asked this before and you never answered. What is it that matters to you? Why did you choose to tune your mini up to X bhp?

exactly, that is what these threads are about

did anyone want to mention Paul was also running race slicks?

I'm really disappointed the Thumper/Dman crew isn't in here back slapping everyone..... kinda boring without the hoopla

how many more times do you have to be told that ET is irrelevant for horsepower.

But then again what did your Mini run? a mid 14 at 114

ET wins racers

NOT WITH A .7 reaction time

and how many times do you need to be told by Shawn your system doesn't work?

Lets see if you can beat that Civic on Toyo 888 (not slicks) around SOW then you can say how quick your car is
