No reducer, just welding a 3" to the existing exhaust is pretty hokey. Yet another reason I do everything myself to keep up with my high standards.
thats definitely an interesting connection... i would have loved to weld up my own exhaust but i dont know how to weld and pipe bending equipment is not practical to buy.

I intend on learning how to weld eventually. Pipe bending? i'll leave it to the shops. I guess i could always buy prebent tubing online though.

Mandrel bends from Summit are cheap.

9 out of 10 muffler shops will NOT have a mandrel bender. The overhead of a mandrel bender isn't profitable at most muffler shops.

After seeing how many crappy exhaust systems were coming out of local shops I just decided I would do all mine myself. 12 systems later....lol

for those physics people out there...

wont the flow be limited by the smallest ID... aka DP + cat? I guess the only reason to get a 3inch at this point (like ghosthound said) is for possible future turbo mods...

it cost me 319 at a family shop that took their time to make sure everything was done right ...they stretched the 3 inch so it would fit ...it was done really well dispit the transfer from the 2.5 to 3inch but im getting a 3inch downpipe anyways...

it cost like 60 bucks less than the first time and i had the same thing done but got bigger piping so im satisfied

Hi All,
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but have you guys seen this system from Stratmosphere ? I've sent them an email to find out more about it. Talk about a straight through system... and the price is not bad. Has anyone seen/heard this system yet?

I just heard from Greg over at Stratmosphere and he sent me a link. Wow, sounds just a good as our Custom Magnaflow, but for a few more Benjamins... Something to consider for some of you out there...

That exhaust sounds real mean haha. It also looks sick.

Little confused:

"This sport exhaust system is designed from the ground up for performance simplicity and unparalleled aesthetics. Our design goal was to utilized the maximum pipe diameter possible, 2.75", while at the same time capturing the aural excitement of the supercharged Mk 1 Cooper S."

It looks like it's for the R56 but the statement makes me a little wary.

Yah, I was a bit confused too but Stratmosphere confirmed that it is indeed for the R56

A careful read of the text indicates that those of you with turbo'd Minis are aching for them to sound like our SC'd Minis. So for you poor bastards, Stratmosphere can give you the aural excitement (!) via the exhaust system..

Sounds great, nice and smooth. I am one of those who hates the popping associated with some aftermarket mini exhausts and I don't notice any of that here. Thanks for posting.
