Exhaust tip idea

I have this idea for a custom exhaust tip set up.

I want the tips to come out of the 'grill' areas on the rear bumper. Has anyone done something like this before?

Double tips on either side like what ferrari does would be awesome. This might also allow for a cool rear diffuser if the battery is moved.

Any thoughts? Is this a futile idea? It is only an idea because I have no money.

I'll try to mock something up in photoshop. This idea shall henceforth be known as the nabeshin mod. Unless someone has done this type of thing already.

There is an aftermarket bodykit that allows this. I forgot which username had it on here...

Yeah I agree I think having two dual tips coming out of the fake grill area would look awesome!! Are the mufflers hanging at about the same height as the grills? If so a muffler shop could easily weld a pie bend to exit right out there and then stick on some nice tips and be done. Assuming the mufflers are positioned correctly, should be an easy and fairly cheap mod. Also IMHO that Zeemax kit looks horrible! That's screamin lame *** Japanese Fast and Furious crap, the Mini is so much more sophisticated than that and deserves the correct look.

I have real flow through rear grills and the borla race cans are RIGHT there..
This would be a super easy mod.

Remember you would need to cut and bend the heat shielding marerial out of the way.

I'll take a photo with a better close up

If you look close you can see the "can"

Here are some shots of my "cans" (LOL sounds funny saying that)
You can see right through my "flow through rear bumper vent"
The cans are just asking to go straight out ...

Here is what I came up with in photoshop.

I know my photoshops skills lack, but you get the general idea. Note the entire bumper could be modified as shown to make a new look.

That is a great photoshop...but what about two tips that fill the vent area and are the shape of the vents...I just think that it may look better being completely filled in...

have fun when you get started...I love custom mods

By popular demand:

Now all I need is money for the tips, body work to shorten the openings, and to pay the muffler shop to weld.

And a way to keep what ever tip you use COOL.

Melt fest...I like that. heh heh.

I'd probably use a metal mesh for the grills and then call it good. The plastic around the stock tip location has never melted before. So I don't see the bumper plastic melting. It could come down to the tips I would get. Some, I would gather, do not get as hot on the outside as others.

How about smoothing out the reverse light and painting that lower section black. Then get the newer tail lights with the reverse lights built it. That would look even more like the ferrari I think.
Just a thought.

I rather enjoy my tail lights as they are, they are more "upscale" in my mind than the newer ones with the circle brake light and red turn signals.

I need to find some good pictures to make another photoshop version that would include a rear diffuser and alternate exhaust tips. The diffuser could potentially encompass the reverse light portion of the bumper, at which point an alternative would need to be found.
