Can the exhaust be split to either side of the bumper?

Instead of having the exhaust being at the center of the bumper, is it easy enough to split it and have it on either side of the bumper? Or is the only way to get a split system is to buy it split.

Just curious!

Here's a picture of the factory exhaust system:

Looking at it, there are two exhaust pipes coming out of the muffler on the left side of the car, so it appears that if you modify or replace the rear valence to give you cutouts for the exhaust on either side of the car, rather than the single cutout in the middle, a competent exhaust shop should be able to take the two pipes coming out of the muffler and route them to the sides rather than the center, but since the muffler is fairly close to the center of the car, you're probably going to end up with a 180-degree bend in the pipe leading to the driver's side outlet.

Any competent exhaust shop can do this without issue, and it shouldn't be that expensive. Pick up a Blue flame or Palo Uber lower valance piece and you are set.

I dunno... not a lot of clearance back there... I think on the dual exhaust valences, the tips exit about where the muffler and resonator are on the OEM exhaust... looks to me like you'd have issues snaking enough pipe around to those locations with the OEM exhaust... I think you'd need to start with an aftermarket exhaust to make this work.

If you can, try talking to Ryephile, his comes out the passenger side I think. I know you will probably have to change the rear skirt for the side exit

Thanks for the help you guys! I'd like to pick up a Lumma rear bumper, that's why I'm interested to see if this would work. I'm currently running an Invidia cat back so that may make a difference as well. I suppose I could just go to a performance shop and see what they say. Thanks again!

With the invidia, it should work with a fairly simple mod, since it's a double sided exhaust. Though it would be a shame to hack up such a beautifully made exhaust IMHO....

Here's a commercial split system - blueflame. It comes with a rear clip on valence so will work with OEM bumper but I ended up getting a Cooper non s aero bumper and custom cutouts to improve the aesthetics.

I did it with a Borla exhaust. Had exhaust shop cut off muffler outlets, and run them straight out the back on each side. I have the PU one, which is all kinds of cracking...

Very unique looking, only one I know of on the islands here.

Do you have any pics by chance? I'd love to see them.

Exactly right...if my Invidia will get hacked up I'm not sure if I will want to go that route!

... but that's what would be required... cut off the exhaust pipes exiting the muffler on each side... then weld on new pipes/tips from the mufflers out the back of your new valence cutouts...

Shouldn't have done that, Nate. You're gonna return to your car to find that missing....
