OK so I know how a PnP works, but how does a re-flash work, and can the dealership detect it? From your "stealthy" comment I would assume no. Thanks!

Pretty simple, you send us the ecu, we re-flash it and you drop it back in. No nasty wire harnesses or extra boxes hanging out in the engine bay. very clean. As for the dealer detection their software and hardware only looks for version numbers and trouble codes. We do not change the version number of the software and we do not throw any codes so stealthy it is. Just to note we have been using the Evotech for more than 7 years and have yet to have a dealer detection or warranty void.

On another note they can also turn off the cat code light so for those running no cats this would be an ideal solution. Not street legal of course

Your website doesn't offer a lot of information. Do have specific tunes available? Would you be able to accommodate tunes for other components?

What is the process and cost if I buy the remap now, then say next year upgrade my turbo, and make other changes, would you be able to retune? What would be cost?

Thanks

We have a buy it once policy and always have. Basically it works like this, buy the software today for what you have. 6 Months from now Cams are available, this would obviously require a new tune. Simply send us back the ECU for retuning and only pay for the shipping. Pretty simply

In the next 3 weeks we will be testing 3 different cam grinds. Each one will have a different software version to go with it.

Hope this helps

Yes, although we have not had any yet. We are actually doing one in a week so we should have some good numbers to throw down. If your interested let me know, if there was little to no gain we wouldn't charge you for the JCW re flash

It seems like Mini took a long time to come out with the JCW Ecu tune for the automatics. Does your work with the automatics? How much for non nam members? Thanks

Comparing the JCw and Evotech ecu tune , are they about the same gains in HP and torque? That's just taking 2 plain cars and adding just the ecu tune.

I have some ALTA stuff on my car, CAI, Turbo Tube, FMIC, Cat Back. Will you tune work with my pre existing mods? what is the turn around time? its my only car and I need it.

Also do you expect a setup like that to be comparable with your stage 2 tune (of course not quite as good) but close. Im sure there are a bunch of people out there wondering the same thing. I already have a unichip but if yours will work better than its worth it.

Buyer Beware

I know the claim is there that it won't be detected but it seems every time my mini goes in for an oil change or any repair they re-flash my computer with some update or another. I would question the ECU programming is undetectable but will not say it is not possible. How would the dealer updating the computer effect the Mini Madness product because this I know happens.

I would like to point out a few other things.

Mini Madness also claims 15WHP from a catback exhaust and an intake and we all know by now that is not happening. They also Claim 44 WHP from the two pieces plus their tune.

BMW improved the Internals of the stock turbo, improved the heads, pistons, and manifold just to safely make 30 WHP

Roush and Saleen offer to cover the remainder of the motor warranty if you order their stage one 90WHP supercharger for a mustang GT. I'm sure if the Madness Kit for the mini truly made 44WHP and they covered our motor and turbo and paid for any repairs at the dealer many would all be willing to pay 3 grand or more for their bits. But it does'nt and they won't because it is just not safe on our stock cars

For those who want maybe 30WHP at a reasonable price at the cost of having possible warranty issues and reliability issues this kit seems like a good deal. However, I cannot go without stating my opinion while another Mini aftermarket parts manufacturer makes claims that once again over promise and minimize possible down sides.

Hey George !
WOW! Good to see this option is now available from you guys !
As far as JCW and motormouth's question, I also have a JCW and really love my ecu tune, I would definitely be curious if something could make it even better.
Would your flash erase JCW software ? or would it be able to work in conjunction and get even better numbers ?

Thanks!
Sam

That was answered above....

But to re-iterate....yes it "erases" the JCW tune. All the values of code in the ECU that are changed by the JCW tune, will be altered to some other value by the EvoTech tune I'm assuming.

The numbers from the EvoTech tune will be much better than the JCW, I think its pretty safe to say.

So, everytime the dealer does a upgrade on the ecu , it will erase the evotech setting?

Good to hear from you Sam! Honestly we have not done a JCW yet but one local is interested so hopefully soon. I spoke to the guys at Evotech and they claim that on the JCW kits expect a 20hp 22tq. Hopefully we will be testing one here soon.

Yes I would say your gains would be similar to our setup and maybe a bit more. Does Alta even sell that unichip anymore? We have heard not so good things about the Unichip's on R56's.
