Odd observation on my ALTA////

I put my DP on the other day. I drove it home and looked at the tail pipes and said damn those stick out farther, how odd. I mentioned it to my wife and she did not agree. I looked at it again and sure enough they were flush again. Why in the hell is my exhaust sometimes .5 of an inch OUT FURTHER than other times. I know it moves when you drive in and out or forward and backward but what gives? The catback was already hung for 2000 kilometers and it never moved. Anyone? ADAM? I just dont want to stress anything like a engine mount, I dont have a clue why it has .5 inch difference in lenght, its usually AFTER I drive rather hard.

I didn't notice on my car but it is another good reason to stiffen up the engine mounts with poly bushings.

Metal expands and contract with heat, Stainless Steel will do it even more. Don't worry, everything is normal. A new system will do it more, and then after a year or so it finds it's happy place and will move a lot less.

Ya me too when Im drive it, however I will probably burn myself one these days. Its like the car pops a woody, or in this case a steelie. Its just odd because when I push it with my foot it doesnt budge, but then it retracts like when you jump into ice water. The odd thing is I have always considered my car a female....maybe I got bigger probs...

Totally Normal! You can adjust how far it grows, by the rest (cold) placement. If it is cat-back only then just move the system slightly farther forward to help tuck the tips.

Also, on the Oval Tip you can move the tip farther into the muffler body to reduce the amount it will stick out when "hard"!

Let me know if I can help further!
