Stupid @$#%&* Belt

I keep throwing my belt on my 04 Mini Cooper S, I keep throwing the stupid Serpentine belt. I have a 17% pulley. I forgot the brand but I brought it from Danny at Mini Corsa, I finally brought a Goodyear Gatorback belt today and am going to install it, any suggestions on keeping the belt on or why i keep throwing it.

Check your belt tensioner.

Make sure the pulley is properly installed. If it isn't you'll throw belts all day. And if the first belt broke and damaged one of the other pullies that could be your problem, and or the tensioner. Need to check it all.

hows your tensioner? and how many have you thrown? after a few I think you need to go in and find out why its happening. most likely it is a misaligned pulley.

Definitely sounds like an alignment issue, however, I have to add a word of caution. Though it seems that I'm the only one to have had this happen (post 125, follow up post 137), a simple $20 to $30 fix would/could have saved me from the €700 / $1100 repair bill. Each time you slip a belt, you're running the chance of doing the same. Dunno if it's worth it to you for the peace of mind; just my 2 cents.

Cheers!!

You should really talk to Danny about this. He installed my 17% and I have no issues with it at all.

here is some good info on the belt tensioner stop that poppa bear is talking about.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=82769

when I was putting mine on, the tensioner tool came loose and the stop saved me $135 its first day on the job.
