To anti-seize or not to anti-seize

Do you use anti-seize on your plugs or not? just want to hear if you do or if you don't and WHY.

Also, do you torque to in-lbs or twist recommended rotation once the washer is seated

Always have, always will, always will reccomend it. It's cheap insurance for whatever reason they may need to be pulled in the future whether it's replacement or something more involved. If I can save a massive headache for 99 cents ahead of time, I will. And as far as torque specs, follow whatever is reccomended. I just went off the Bentley manual for the MINI. Most places use just a number as a spec. I don't think I've seen a rotational or degree setting for plugs. That's usually saved for something with a higher torque value.

Anti-seize . Only way to go . Keeps from gauling the threads . And I run the plug in until it contacts the head , then a half turn .

Do it. Do it, because it'll be easier to remove the plugs...hence the name anti-seize...

Torque 21#'s

Torque it at 20 ft.lbs.
I have always used the hand tight + 1/4 turn with NA engines but I guess not for boosted engines. During the RMW tuning session, my plugs came loose.

Not really. I find some stuff neat but not really hardcore into it. If anything, I see how kids on crotchrockets ride in my area and it makes me hate bikes. I just had some awesome teachers in school. Although, this would be fun....

How do you know they are kids with the helmet on Nice thing about helmets is no one know how old you are so if you want to be stupid...
CBR F2, 750 Magna, XT500,KX80 and my special toy RG500Gamma 133whp@ 356lbs wet.
And I always use anti-seize on the spark plugs !

But the funny things is I chase after crotchrockets in the twisties with my Mini

Me too. And I check em every 5000 miles when I change the oil. 22ft./lbs and mine have never been loose. I also don't check, tighten or install plugs except when the heads are stone cold.

thanks everyone, anti-seize seems the way to go, i was just worried that it was a culprit in "shooting plugs", glad to know thats not the case
