Chicago area AutoXCooper * Jan Tune Results

This will be the thread that I will update every few hours on Sat July 12th as we finish each MINI.

Starting at 7am running into the night. I'll update the details of each MINI with "IN" HP & TQ and "OUT" HP & TQ numbers. Will also post link to pics.

Weather forecast, Temp in mid 80's with 80% humility. Not a good day to run a dyno and the numbers are coming in lower then normal.

The below numbers do not tell the whole story. If owners at the event post up copies of runs I'm sure those of you who know how to read them will be able to address them with kindness.

1. 06 GP, Bone stock, In at 183HP Out at 202HP and 180TQ
2. 04 R53, 15%, Catback, In at 180HP out at 183HP, but picked up 10 in the mid range. SC may have a leak.
3. 06 R53, bone stock JCW, In at 176HP Out at 189HP
4. 06 R53, JCW injectors, CAI, Catback, 17%, In at ...
5. 03 R53, 15%, CAI, Catback, Header, Ported head, In at ...179HP and left with 189HP
6. 06 R53 See post #58 on page 3 for update.
7. 03 R53 Header, CAT BACK, 17%, CAI, 380 injectors, by-pass valve, In at 181HP left with 188HP.
8. ?? R53 M7 Intercooler, 17%, JCW-CAI & Catback...
9. 05 R50 CAI & Catback, In at 109HP Out at 116HP. Bottom end had biggest gain.
10. 02 R53, 15%, Catback, CAI, The TEMP Dropped and so did the humility and we had our best run of the day, In at 189HP and out at 203HP on a MINI with 70K on the clock.
If you see your MINI listed above wrong at this time, I'll update it Sat, no need to post at this time.

Lets see the dyno sheets....

The totals don't show the true nature of whats changed. Also would like to hear the comments of the owners after that first test drive.

Hey Gang,

The owners will chime in as they can. They may post sheets too. Over all everyone is very happy with the seat of the pants dyno and leaving

I'd say the temp and humidity had a factor in the results, but the way the temp is dropping now you just might have some fun tonight!

The Temp did drop and helped our last MINI on the dyno.
The #6 with RMW had other issues that didn't allow us to run it on dyno today. May try and run it next week. Jan did map it based on another MINI with same hardware.

It was a great day, everyone had fun, left with more power and great big smiles.

Big Thank You to Jan for Tuning, Joe for running the dyno and Glenn for putting on the mods for our customers. It was a joy to host this event and I look forward to hosting a remote tune next year.

I'm going to bed!

#10 is one strong MCS.

Also great to see an R50 in the mix.

Look forward to dyno sheets.

As the owner ofthe #6 car, the temps and Humidity really kept the #'s down ( was on the Dyno at 2-3p.m. at the hottest and most humid part of the day low 90's and 80% humidity)...Jan did say if conditions would have been we hoped it would have pulled better #'s so I'm thinking 200-203 might not be out of reach( plus this is a motor with 85,000 miles) Having said that the higher rev (7300) and more linear torque is what got my attention. Man the car just pulls from bottom to top with no stopping... Not to mention I averaged 30.1 mpg back to Minneapolis. Was it worth it? HELL YEAH!!!!!

That was going 70 the whole way home...
As a side note: I drove the car this morning here in Mn (weather was 68 with 10-15% Humidity) HOLY CRAP it was a different car entirely, it pulled like a mother all the way to the new redline and wanted more... Illegal speeds came faster than I thought possible with this Mini. I'm still smiling and can't wait till I can drive it again ( As soon my son brings it home)

I want to First thank the guy's from Auto x for putting this on..What a great group of guy's.
Second,I want to personally thank Jan. Not only for his magic for my car, but taking the time to talk to my 17 year old son. He answered all questions from him and really gave him some great advice about getting into the tuning field, He is truly a class act... For you guy's next on the nation wide Jan tour. Get ready for a great time...And p.s. ask him about the "Stroker".......

Sounds like a good time for all. I love that an R50 got tuned.

On a side note I'm averaging 31-32 MPG on my 17mile commute to work. On average I'm 80-85mph. Not bad for power I'm putting down .

Where & when was that? 210 whp for stock JCW is ???
R53 with 15%, 380 injectors, CAI, catback with RMW Tune makes more than bone stock JCW.
