WEATHER SUCKED at Tune Event. It was really hot and very humid to boot. Today is great, 78 and dry! My R50 that was tuned is pulling harder today then yesterday. That's why the numbers don't "look" that great.

Please understand what Jan does is not just about giving you a bigger number, we could have fudged the numbers on the dyno, but didn't, everyone got more power in the seat of the pants and better power delivery overall.

Until you see your MINI on the dyno and see the roller coaster that is your current power band up to red line it's hard to understand. After Jan works over the map and you see that same line move up, faster and without the roller coaster, you know he did something. Then go for the test drive and you feel it.

Case in point. Jan ran 3 or 4 maps on my R50. The 2nd and 3rd looked best on the dyno. Then he had me go drive the 2nd map, OMG! Then he loaded the 3rd map, it was nice, but was not the OMG that the 2nd map was. Now all of that happen in the heat of the day when we need gills to breath. By the time I left at 1130pm, it was 68 and dry! That 2nd Map was OMG, WTF, Jan's the MAN drive home! By the way, I've met few men nicer stand up guys then Jan in the motorsports biz.

Bottom line, I know people like to talk about numbers and post dyno sheets, that cool, but for me it's how it feels and drives once my tires come off the rollers and hit the pavement. IMHO I'll be reporting back later in the week after I've run out a tank of gas in my day to day life with a R50 Jan tune.

By the way, Jan's working on a 2.0 for us R50 owners!

I don't see anything wrong with a 1.8 with nice pistons on it. so if you ever felt the need to put a rotrex on it you could.
Hmm ideas right?
that would be a killer a stock looking R50 with a 300 hp monster in it.

Did you read it? That JCW car has 16% pulley + crank, DFIC. It is not a bone stock JCW.

My car was the #8 car, which is a 2005 JCW. After installing the 17% pulley on the JCW with a DFIC, coil/wires, cooler plugs, we initially only pulled around 174. We found that there was a vacuum leak and got that fixed and ran about 180, then Jan started his magic. I finished the day at just a tick below 198 whp.

I know that everyone says this, but the power is great, but the way it drives is amazing. It doesn't dog off the line anymore and the yo-yo at 3100 is gone. It pulls hard no matter what gear. I have spent a lot of money on various mods on a variety of cars over the years, but this is by far the best bang for the buck that you will see!

On another note, I would like to thank Jan for his time and expert tuning skills. I would also like to thank Glen and Dustin for all of their help and going way above and beyond the call of duty and staying until 11:30 last night to help me after my springs collapsed. You guys saved my butt. I made it home right around 3 am! Hopefully Peter from M7 will resolve this issue appropriately. Thank you guys so much for everything! Thank you to Troy for being the all around good guy that you are and guiding my way back to the highway. I hope that the racoon didn't hurt the GP at all!!

All in all I had a blast, met some great people and look forward to taking part in more events with you all in the future!

I have car number three--the bone stock JCW--and am very happy with the end result. Acceleration is smoother across the board, and the car definitely pulls harder and more linear. I haven't had a chance to really work the high end of the revs yet, but there should be a substantial improvement here, especially with torque, which had impressive gains up top (at least on the dyno graph). I'll be out on the track in two weeks, and I can't wait to give it a go. I may eventually go with a 15% or 17% pulley to get more torque down low, but I'll see how this plays out on the track first.

Everyone was great, and if you have a chance to do one of these, its well worth it. Jan is a great guy to talk to--I learned a bunch talking with Jan and the other owners; I have a much more concrete idea of what I might do and what I definitely won't do in the future with my car. If I were to do my MINI all over again, I'd go with the setup Jan has recommended in the past; much more cost effective and with better results than the JCW route. (May still make some more changes down the road, but I'm good for now--don't want more power just yet, just more seat time).

"1. 06 GP, Bone stock, In at 183HP Out at 202HP and 180TQ "
Sweet numers on that GP, wonder if even better results when temp dropped to 68. Nice over 200hp bone stock.

We didnt get it on the dyno, it had issues that we are still working on, once we finish it up later this week we hope to get it on a dyno and report back at that time.

Hey everyone, I was lucky #10, and the only woman owner. My little '02 is a gem. As I am not mechanically inclined I was super happy with everything everyone did for me! I drove down early Friday and picked up a cr*ppy rental Ford Focus (the starter almost kept me in Madison later on Saturday after my Art Show). They free ran my car first thing Saturday morning to make sure all was okay to go ahead with the dyno tune. Then they called me at my show to tell me good news.

As I blew in at 8:10PM they had CHEQQRS on the dyno for the baseline. A whopping 189.6! Jan worked his magic and we ended up with 203.5 + 10 torque! He also told me my '02 was one of the good ones . Then the test drive - WHOO HOOO!! I mean Holy Moly!! When I got back to Glenn's I jumped out and did the happy dance.

On the drive home with cruise control set at 73-74 I got 33.1 mpg. I'd checked it on the way down and was 30.6 at the same cruise setting. More power, waaayy smoother feel, and better mpg. What more could anyone want? The car just feels lighter on its "feet".

This afternoon it was off to the back roads for a couple of hours of driving. Temps in the mid 80's. I reset the computer when I filled up before the adventure. I pushed my baby and there was always more it wanted to give. Doing 110 was as much as I dared! The computer read out was between 29.6 and 31.2 mpg while I was driving. At home 30.6 for the whole trip. It's never come home over 28-29 mpg before.

This was the best thing I could have done. I was really happy that not everyone had left before I got to the shop. It was great to see some people I'd met before and to meet new ones. I can't thank you all enough for your help and your cheers when my car made it over 203!

Thank you Dustin for making this come together. Glenn for all you've done to my car for me. And, of course to Jan. Thank you All!!

Oh yeah, if I an figure out how to scan and post the dyno sheet I'll do it. I'm sure you all can make way more sense of it that I can.

Hey Guys,

My car at the Jan Tune was 4. 06 R53, JCW injectors, CAI, Catback, 17%, In at ... and wanted to fill in some information. My car's WHP was 182.7 before the tune and 193.5 WHP after the Jan tune which at around 2:00 pm the weather was HOT and Sticky. I'm real happy with the Tune and these numbers even with that weather. Before the tune it seemed like my car was missing something. That something was the Jan Tune. The Tune really dialed the car in and it pulls hard and strong consistently now. I can tell theres a significant difference.

I wish I could've stayed there longer but I had an appointment in Lake Delavan WI at 5:00 pm and rock band to ckout at 10pm.

I'd like to thank Dustin, Jan and everyone that was there at The Rover Shop for helping out and making this Tune Event a Success.

First off, I would like to thank Dustin of AutoXCooper for setting this up. I would also like to thank Glen from The Rover Shop for providing the place and Jan for working his MAGIC!!!

There are three ways to best describe the difference. First, the throttle responce is amazingly responsive. It reminds me of my old Honda CBR1000R sport bike - just tickle the gas and the car excellerates. The second thing is how smooth it pulls to redline with no flat spots. Third, if it didn't already have a supercharger I would say someone snuck a supercharger under the hood when I wasn't looking!

Jan's tune is definitely money well spent. The best thing about the tune is it will hold me off til next year for a head, cam, and a header. I just hope work picks up by then. Welcome to the REVOLUTION!!!

Greg no damage to the GP.

That is great news Troy! I would have felt really bad as the only reason you were driving that late was to help me!! Thanks again!

Yeah, the bottom three coils were touching each other just under the weight of the car! We are not sure what is going on yet. I spoke with Shelly at M7 and we are sending the springs back to find out what's up and what they are going to do to help me. I'll keep you all posted!

Too bad Greg! I'm sure you'll get it all sorted out. I bet you're really glad they didn't get to the springs before the tune! At least once it's back on its wheels you'll have the Jan tune to enjoy. I bet you can't wait!

MadCityMINIs had an ice cream social last night. The other owners were interested to hear my results. My husband went with me. He said he could really feel the difference even as a passenger. He doesn't go with me often, and doesn't drive the car. His eyes were popping out as we went through the round-abouts and accelerated onto the highway! Yeah, illegal speeds come up really fast now . Our club has a country drive this Saturday. I can't wait to go out again. Man, I love this car even more now!!!
