If you want i can make you a mandrel bent setup like that. You will need to get it welded in to your cat though and have the hangers installed and the tip welded in.

I know someone who did this. His MINI sounded great when I heard it at AMVIV. I didn't ride in it to see what it sounded like inside compared to my TBE but I'm sure it was less expensive for him to get set up.

I know of two like this in WCM down in San Diego. Send a note to SDMike, not sure if he is on NAM much anymore.

Sounded pretty good and not obnoxious from the outside. Very loud at WOT.

Did it have a stock downpipe in there? Second cat removed?

I didn't want to give names but the person I was talking about is the same that old81 mentioned. Yes, I believe he has the stock downpipe, I do not know if the second cat was there or not but I think it was.

I understood it was stock downpipe back, no second cat, no resonator and it ended with nice tips. Looked good, sounded good, raspy, not ricer !

Thanks SimpsonGI, I hope SDMike does not mind, I will send him the tread to see if he wants to comment.

Hey gang, the setup I have is pretty simple. I'll see if I can get some pics and audio up.

Basically I was looking for something a bit more aggressive sounding and did not want to spend a grand on a TBE since I still am unsure of my future mod path.

I took my car out to Ed Hanson's Pipe Dreams and had him cut out the muffler and put new pipe in with some bigger tips.

Total cost was well under 300.00 and it sounds great (IMHO), I was worried that it would drone on the freeway and honestly it doesn't I can still carry on a converation via the bluetooth and people hear me fine.

It's good to see you around!! It sounded great to me as well , and nowhere near the price of a TBE.

I've driven around with just the stock downpipe and no exhaust. It really wasn't as loud as I expected. Didn't sound that good though, adding a pipe to it and out the back might clean up the sound a little bit though.

Try running and open header on an R53...now that is loud.

As long as the two cats are in, it will not change the emission of the car. No sure if they will flag you for sound though?

I'm in San Diego and while I have not tested the db levels I can say I have passed many LEO and never been pulled over or cited.

It is my understanding that anything after the factory installed cats are legal for CARB/Emissions.
