Drivetrain RMW Dyno Tune in Boston, MA: 25-26 July
RMW Dyno Tune in Boston, MA: 25-26 July
Hello all! Jan will be coming out to Boston for a tuning party!
Well, it will actually be held a little bit west of the city, at Eurotech Advanced Automotive in Framingham, MA. Here is the address, so that you can print the directions:
Eurotech Advanced Automotive
14 Grant Street
Framingham, MA 01702
For you out-of-towners, this site is easily accessed from both I-90 and Rte 9, and there are many hotels in the area!
The plan is for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday sessions, July 25-27.
Cost will be $350 cash for Jan's tune, plus $125 to Eurotech. The $125 gets you the following:
-setup/warmup on the dyno
-baseline run
-3 rounds of Jan's tune and trophy runs
-printouts or files (if you bring a memory stick)
-breakdown
That will be about 90 minutes.
Additional work (e.g. troubleshooting) can be performed for $20/10 minutes to Eurotech. They do take plastic.
So...who's interested??

the last Jan tune gathering I booked I had to back out of - unemployment is a bad thing
i'm on my third interview however - tomorrow afternoon - for a very good job, so...
please include me as a participant -
I will cancel by the end of next week if things go to pieces - not leaving you dangling.
---
Ian,
My expectations for this are as follows:
1. consult on car condition, essentially a "tech inspection" to determine the car is safe for the dyno and in good health
2. baseline dyno run
3. one or several iterations of
a. alteration to the MAP (mine is a JCW, which Jan can apparently deal with)
b. dyno run - comparison to baseline, and verification of safe A/F ratios
4. done
Folks that have actually bought a Jan tune, please chime in if my expectations are out of line.
Cheers,
Charlie

Jan's specialty is the Cooper S, but I think that he has done some Coopers. I'm sure that Jan can improve the driveablity of the Cooper, but the numerical HP and torque gains won't be the same as for the S. Just be prepared for that....

Based on other RMW tuning parties around the country, plan on $350 for Jan's tune, plus approximately $125 for 90 minutes of dyno time.

Jan
Joe Marko from HMS Motorsports is going to call you today about his MINI. He's @ NHIS for the NASCAR stuff. He's in charge of the saftey stuff for Hans for Nascar too. I'll send you a PM with his cell. Save him a spot.

Wilhelm.... put Joe on the list
1 hr is sufficient
I have read where Jan said he has gotten up to 10 peak HP on a Non "S" MINIs but the bigger gains are thru-out RPM range where he has seen up 15 Ftpounds increases in spots. I'm getting a Jan tune July 18 on my Non "S" car. I'll be posting my results in the Non "S" forum..
Good luck with your tune also and post your results..

I _may_ have some time off this weekend, and Jan is wanting to personally touch up the tuning on my car (having a 2.0l stroker installed at this very moment), so I may do well to put myself down. I won't know what day that I could make it until the beginning of July. So, in summary, I'm interested but I can't confirm yet!
Jan, is this the only north-east tuning event that you are doing in the near future??

Jan, I've seen that you prefer people to use 91 Octane at the tunes. We only have 89 and 93 out here--that's all I've seen, at least. Should we just go with 93, or would you want us to mix 89 and 93?
If i have already been tuned by Jan and now want to add his cam, would I still be paying the $350 plus dyno time or would it be just dyno time to retune it? this answer may cause me to join the party....
