15% or 17% with RMW Head/Cam/Header

I'm looking for some opinions on either to stick with my 15% or switch the pulley out for a 17% when I install the RMW Head/Cam/Header. The car is mainly street driven and auto x'd 15-20 times a year. I have both pulleys here so let me know what you think

I went 17 and it turned out pretty good for me. If your going to do the rest there's no use holding back.

P.S. You didn't say anything about injectors, what's your plan?

I have the RMW 440 injectors as well, but they aren't going in untill I get tuned as advised by Jan.

If your not one to stay at elevated RPM levels for long period of times I would switch out to the 17%. It will bring your torque levels lower in the RPM range and make for a very nice street machine. I'm pretty sure that you already got this answer from Jan as I did when I told him what I did with my car 99% of the time. You may get a little more belt wear with the 17% so I would put it on a schedule to change it out every 15,000 miles. I would also carry one of the belts in the car as a spare.

What kind of torque numbers are you all getting with this set up?

If you are asking about mine, dyno plot is in the gallery. 209 at the peak but over 200 a good amount.

Edit: just looked again myself. Over 200 from 3000-6500. Hell, its got 240whp at 6000. People who claim all the hp comes from the raised rev limiter are a bit off base.
I beleive my car is the strongest Jan has seen with this combo so you results my vary.

Wow those are some great numbers for just those mods. Header/cam/pulley has been my plan and it sure looks like it will be a sweet deal. I have a JB cabrio as well, so hopefully you're high numbers will rub off on my car!

JB cabrios are the best. I said it in another thread, as a JCW car, the throttle was more on/off. Now, not so much. First gear is really worthless on the 05 tranny with this power. Much restraint is needed. If you don't have the LSD, second will be challenging too. But it sure is a lot of fun and runs like a raped ape with this much power. .

Haha! They are the best. I can't wait until I get my m7 ultimate grills installed, it will look sweet being all black. Its painful seeing them in the garage. Yeah 1st gear is a joke. I really want the LSD but I feel like more power is what I need right now. That may change when I actually get the power though!

Do you have any kind of tune? Would a GIAC or something work with what you have?

No, you will need a custom tune. When you go 440's there's no getting around it. Plus, something like this is a fair bit of money, you want to do it right. The wrong tune or no tune and you could have numerous issues. If you are serious, get a hold of Jan, he won't steer you wrong or sell you something you don't need for your situation. You may have to catch him as he travels around the country, go to LA, or go remote for the tune.

PS I'd try to explain things better, but typing on the iPhone is a chore.

wow those are some amazing numbers!!! I'm not overly worried about the horsepower, tho more is better, my goal is to have over 200 ft/lbs of torque. I agree with your statement re: custom tuning, if your going to put this kind of coin into your car, it only makes cents to get the absolute most out of your set-up possible.

Its not only getting the most, I think if someone were to dump 440's in thier car and do nothing else, it would run like crap. If you could get it to run, you're 100cc's over stock on injectors, I think the fueling maps and the AFR would be fighting each other. Getting the tune is really minimal in the cost aspect, its getting to the master one way or another to get it done. We've seen the damage that can be done if tuned improperly
