There are some initialization values

that supposedly can only be reset by factory tools. But since I don't have one to actually test, I can't tell for sure. These are different than adaptation values like fuel trim and the like. More like what "fully closed" reads on the position potentiometers for the throttle body. This isn't a battery disconnect item, but actually needs the ECU to run a diagnostic routine to read the limits. For the life of me, I can't see why these aren't learned during start-up or operation, but that's what tons of the liturature says.

Ok-Took the plunge-got the “ SprintBooster” Installed it on Friday evening. Got home from work and it must have been like a kid that got his “Ovaltine Secret Decoder”.

Installed it in Minutes- and I have to say it is “Crazy”. Yes it makes the throttle more sensitive, but more than that, it seems to make the car more fun to drive.

In another post someone compares it to a drivers preference, a short throw shifter doesn’t make the car faster either, but some drivers prefer them. There are many other mods that can also be done to make the Driver feel like the car is faster or performs better.

When I purchased my Mini it had many mods already done to it. For example, JCW Pulley, Chip, CAI, Throttle body, Alta short throw, Milltek exhaust, Eibach Pro Springs.

I could not compare it to a stock S.

The way I look at it, I have had much more than this on a Craps table at any given time, why not give it a try?

I could not be happier – I blew two sport bikes away today! Two more kills for the side of my MCS. They looked just as surprised!

Congrats!

Somehow I doubt the bikes were racing though. There isn't a sport bike out there that would lose to even a modified MINI. Even a Ninja 250 does 0-60 in under 6 seconds. Most of the 600's would give a 911 turbo a run for their money, and the literbikes are just silly fast (Sub 3 second 0-60).

Single Cylinder dual sport bike right? I'm sure 0-60 wasn't the first thing on their mind.

Hehe, I don't know much about dual sports, and my stint in the bike world has been fairly limited. I'm trying to stop buying things for the MINI long enough to save up some moolah and buy a 250r or something for my first bike.

The new ones are
Comparison of the old 250r (I think 88-07) and the new 250r (08)

That's the hardest part, I didn't think I'd like green but then I saw it and I do.

The red is kind of a dull, almost candy apple red, so not sure if I'd do that. Blue is nice, but more Yamaha. Black, well, I figure for a first bike I might as well get something that people an see me on.

The trend continues, users love the SB; non-users attempt to invalidate our experience and draw parallels with non-MINIs. In 72 I had a 1949 500 boxer twin with exposed chrome driveshaft, and more years on bikes (none as slow as that BMW) than in four wheeled vehicles, so what.

More positive MINI user experiences here http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...t-booster.html .

I don't think either PGT or I was trying to invalidate any experiences, just got sidetracked with a quick talk about bikes (And why a MINI, even a turbocharged one would have a HELL of a time keeping up with almost any bike out there ).

I probably wouldn't buy one of these, but it seems like those that have bought them like them, and that's all that matters.

exactly...not dismissing anybody, just putting the MINI's performance in perspective (even those with 1000hp! AND a Sprint Booster )

I agree it's not going to add power but I can see how the Sprint Booster "could" be a nice mod even on a high HP Mini.

Until more people try it or the good Dr. does a a test we can't really say anything about it.

Thank goodness I don’t have to wait for a critical mass of reviews before sharing comment (my own review is good enough for me). And, fortunately my sensory perceptions are functional and don’t need to rely on an oscilloscope to validate and quantify the effect.

how does this differ from just bumping up TPS signals in the ECU?

Well

probably not at all, but few have the tools to do that.

FWIW, I think I will get my hands on one to see what the effect is, just probably not for a week or so.

I don't experience any time between the time at which I apply pressure to the pedal, and the time at which the power is delivered.

However, in my parents' Saturn L300 sedan, it is very noticeable.
