Depends on what you have done on your car and where in the RPM band, whether anythings wrong with your car, etc. I've seen anywhere from 5 HP to 40 HP.

On average you're likely to see a 10-15 HP gain.

How would the sprint booster go on a car with a newly added performance head and a custom tune?
Does it work on a highly modded car as it would stock?

Yes, it works exceptionally well with headwork and a tune.

Well My sprint booster is on order guys and I won't give any candy coated BS as to the before and after on my 2006 JCW. I am also buying the plasma booster.....Flame suit on..... I will try them out independently and if the product dosen't live up to the hype I bite the bullet and pay return shipping. I'll keep everyone here posted since $329 isn't exactly cheap.

I really don't like the way the stock ECU interprets throttle pedal movements- I'd buy a Sprint Booster if it eliminated the lag.

What lag are you reffering to?

Mostly experienced when blipping the throttle & taking off on a hill.

I've also noticed a half second delay when lifting my foot off the pedal before the engine deaccelarates. Cable operated fuel injection doesn't have this problem.

It's like playing a video game when the batteries in the hand held controllers need recharging.

Well, it can't anticipate your starting off and open the throttle before you would have otherwise, and the drop-throttle overrun ( an anti-smog measure) can only be fixed by an ECU upgrade, so you may as well forget this silly imagined "upgrade".

Honestly people, this thing only sends a throttle-position signal to the computer that runs the engine - no more, no less.

So how do you think that making the throttle-position more sensitive does anything whatsoever for performance?

Exercise your lazy ankle so you can move your foot faster, save $400, and get the same imaginary improvement.

I know this product doesn't make any car faster, however, I am interested in more consistent throttle response. That said, I don't know if this product will cure the problem or not...

Maybe my JCW car has more lag than your car OldRick- Who knows???

Do post results, as I'm rather ineterested to hear what someone has to say about it, after first hand experience.

I don't know about you all, but I would like something that DECREASES throttle response, wheel spin coming off a corner is not fast.

This product sounds exactly like what the manufacturers used to use to make their cars feel faster at take off. Remember the cable on old carbs? The gear or whatever the cable hooked to was not a perfect circle, it was elongated so your throttle plate opened really quick for the first 1/3 of pedal travel to give you that "Wow this car must be fast cause it takes off so fast" feel but then at top end the car sucks. Same thing with factory turbos, they put small ones in cars because they have great response but are very restrictive at top end, it gives you the feel of great acceleration but very bad performance.

What this device does is exactly like changing the "Pointer Speed" for your mouse in Windows, which makes the cursor move faster when you move the mouse.

The Spirit Booster makes the ECU think that you moved the pedal further and faster than you really did. This should not cost $329.

Now if you think that Windows would be running faster as a result of changing the mouse tracking speed, you'll probably think that the Sprint Booster makes your car feel faster, too, so let me tell you about the Turbonator...

I agree with J Marshall- My concern is the inconsistency. My brain expects the car to react a certain way so my foot adapts, then the car adapts to ??? & I feel like a spaz ; )

For those who haven't read it, here is an evaluation of what the device actually does: http://bipesauto.com/sprintbooster/SprintBooster.pdf

The conclusion is that it does nothing but fool he who owns it...

The paper supports mostly what everyone who uses the product and sales literature says it does, except for the upper third dead pedal, which is not the case on my vehicle, and, the supposed duplication ability. Since I have the MINI SB and know what it does, instead of BS speculation, I can say it has worth no matter what method it employs to achieve the effect. And, I certainly don’t feel foolish about having it every time the accelerator pedal is used.

Most of the power mods are off the table in my situation, that aspect has mostly been satisfied. I can place this device in proper perspective for what it accomplishes; the driving experience is better because of it.

yea, this totally got raped on the "Advice on mods for a newbie"(https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=133223) thread... ummm...i have to say sorry for flaming the thread on that one(i happen to start in on some guy insulting it and it just got out of control)...but yes i have to agree with every one...dont waste your time and money...it was made for an MBZ and not a mini....so just save your money for a custom tune(go for the RMW or GIAC) and stay away from toys

Good document! Very detailed. So this is essentially a waste of money, unless you want to spend $300 to avoid pressing the pedal more.

No, it is not a waste of money despite what the people who have not tried it have to say.

here we go again....ok for the average drive yes, this may be an option if u wana have a little fun...but for the rest of us who care for real power and not shear lazyness, we put wrench time and money into what we truley love, our cars....so in short, the SB is for people who wana plug some wires in to impress their friends and get a cheap(or in this case, expensive) thrill.

CK, you’re way off the mark, I care about real power, I’m not lazy, and I do my own wrenching. The only thing you got right about me is I like to impress my girlfriend with a fast ride; she loves acceleration (she gets tingly and I know which side my bread is buttered on). Stop trying to pigeon hole this device and stereotype users.
