can old belt cause power loss?
hey i've searched the site but cant seem to find an answer. can an old supercharger belt cause power loss? i have an upgraded 19% pulley with about 20,000 miles on the belt, almost two years on the car. my car doesnt seem as fast as it used to, now i know this happens when you drive the car for a few years, but honestly, i remember the pull it used to have when i first installed it.plus, i'm losing more stoplight races now
anybody know?
anybody know?
do a search on belt size etc. you'll find photos of where you want the holes of the metal slider on the tentioner to show . this relates to the amount of stretch . if a hole doesnt show above the tentioner spring you should change the belt .
Regardless of the pulley and belt size you use these suckers stretch and slip which translates to power loss. You know that there is a gauge on the belt tensioner that will give you an indication but my was slipping even though it indicated that the tension was still good. I basically change belts once a year.

anybody know?We could not do mine because the tool broke.

While the others have given additional things to look at, changing the belt will likely help.
